Hebron is To Israel as Touluse Is?

A.B. Yehoshua was interviewed on the occasion of his new play and visit to the UK and among other things, we learn

Mr Yehoshua's outlook...He believes passionately in a two-state solution – but also that it is now too late to evacuate the West Bank settlements by force without a "civil war". "The only solution is to give them [the settlers] the possibility to stay as a Jewish minority in a Palestinian state," he says.

Under the Yehoshua plan – a version of which was also floated in the past by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad – those settlers refusing to leave for compensation would have to become Palestinian citizens wholly subject to the new state's laws...Mr Yehoshua also discussed his ideas with Defence Minister Ehud Barak, who raised the question of what would happen if a Jew was slaughtered in Hebron? Mr Yehoshua pointed out that Israelis have been attacked in Egypt without the peace treaty unraveling. "I said: 'If there are three Jews murdered in Toulouse, do you take your army to Toulouse?'"

So, Hebron is France for him?

Alternatively, if 10,000 Jews are murdered in Marseilles, 5000 in Tolouse, the Jews of Orleans were pushed into cattle cars on the way to being dumped into the North Atlantic, and the Jews of Parisrounded up into a ghetto would Israel bomb Paris to smithereens?
Answer: You Betcha. If Israel is responsible for the defense of a Jewish population anywhere, how much more so for a small handful in Eretz Sion itself!
