Menachem Begin's Two Reasons

From a 1985 recording made by Menachem Begin's granddaughter while researching a history project on leadership and peace in which she interviewed him:


אני אמרתי לנשיא קרטר עוד ביולי 1977, שיהודה ושומרון וחבל עזה לא ימסרו לשום שלטון זר ושום
 ריבונות זרה בגלל שתי סיבות - האחת היא הזכות, זוהי ארצנו. והשנייה היא הביטחון. לו הינו מוסרים את השטחים האלה של ארץ ישראל לשלטון זר, הסכנה הייתה ממש קיומית",

"I told President Carter already in July 1977 that Judea, Samaria and Gaza District will not be transferred to a foreign rule or to any foreign sovereignty for two reasons - the first is based on right, it is our country.  Secondly, security.  If we hand over these territories of the Land of Israel to a foreign power, the danger would be existential."
