A Turmos-Aya Historical Note

That news clipping is from February 15, 1977.

A year before Jews returned to nearby Shiloh.

Following the Zion Square terror bombing carried out by Turmos Aya residents, in which a refrigerator was the instrument of destruction (and an American was killed)  --- and by the way, a perpetrator was just recently released in the new prisoners' deal --- it seems some persons attempted an assassination attempt against the village mukhtar.  He was short, seriously wounded, by two assailants.

The pickup vehicle was hidden in the village and two were caught there after the refrigerator was transported form its place of origin: Shchem (Nablus).

Maybe someone thought the mukhtar was working against terror.

I'd call him a "peace activist".
