Hillary's Front...on "Settlements"

When Mrs. Clinton was asked in Ramallah how she felt about Jewish settlements in the West Bank, a cause of strife with Palestinians, she said the United States would raise “the issue” with the next Israeli government. Asked about it again at a town hall meeting in Brussels, she recited the official American position that settlements were “unhelpful” to the peace process.

In Israel, Mrs. Clinton did not publicly broach settlements at all. And she only gingerly raised the issue of border crossings to Gaza, which Israel has mostly kept closed, drawing criticism from European leaders and human rights groups.

But here:

On settlements, Mrs Clinton stopped short of calling for an immediate cessation of building in the occupied West Bank, but said that she would make representations on the matter to the Israeli government.

"We will be looking for a way to put it on the table along with all the other issues that need to be discussed and resolved," she said.

"I think at this time, we should wait until we have a new Israeli government. That will be soon and then we will look at whatever tools are available."

And since we know that the State Department has problems with languages, I think the word "settlements" was used here in her remarks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at Ramallah on March 4th but that's an educated guess:

QUESTION: (In Arabic.)

PRESIDENT ABBAS: (In Arabic.)

SECRETARY CLINTON: We will certainly be raising that issue. We will be looking for a way to put it on the table, along with all the other issues that need to be discussed and resolved.

At this time, I think we should wait until we have a new Israeli government. That will be soon, and then we will look at whether tools are available.

Nevertheless, the Washington Post reports:-

In Israel, she never publicly mentioned long-standing U.S. concerns
about settlement expansion in Palestinian territories. When questioned about
settlements in Ramallah, on the West Bank, she avoided uttering a word that
might have upset Israeli leaders: Instead of "settlements," she referred to
"that issue."

And this I found interesting:

Clinton has said she wants to pursue peace between Israel and the Arab world on "many fronts"

Hillary? Front?

And this doesn't belong in this story, right:

Hillary Clinton: A Northern Ireland settlement matters to us all
