The Eighth Commandent Failure

Settlers suspected of robbing Arab cabbie

Two residents of the West Bank settlement of Shilo were arrested Monday for suspicion of assaulting and robbing a taxi driver from east Jerusalem.

The Arab driver said the two hailed his cab in downtown Jerusalem and asked that he take them to the settlement. According to the driver, upon their arrival at the Tel Shilo archeological site, which is located near the settlement, one of the settlers pulled out a knife and pressed it against him, while the other passenger punched him from behind.

Allegedly, the driver was then pulled out of the vehicle, and the settlers ran off with some cash, a GPS and a cell phone.

Police forces that were dispatched to the scene cordoned off the area and tracked the settlers down at a nearby valley, along with the stolen goods. The suspects, who are known to the police, admitted to the robbery and to another mugging as well. The suspects were scheduled to be arraigned by the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Monday.

First off, as far as I know, the above incident is true.

Secondly, while there is a certain personal situation involved, there is no excuse for this failure of education, inculcation of morals and values - religious and general - and understanding of right and wrong.

Thirdly, I am sure the authorities will deal with this in the appropriate manner.

Fourth, true, they are residents of Shiloh, well, for sure one is, but there are another several hundred youngsters who are not accused of theft as well as some 500+ adults.

Fifth, how dumb can you be to plan a robbery in this fashion?
