a. what is tragic about this past month is that Israel did not pursue a "political strategy against Hamas"
and
b. Israel, tragically, repeatedly arrests "peaceful, non-violent resisters in the 'West Bank'".
I know some of you may think these are deep, complex and complicated issues, but allow me to be Chusim ben Dan (I, too, can quote the Talmud) and cut quickly to the point, which is:
there is no political strategy that can face off Hamas. Really. Ipso facto, it exists to eradicate Israel and make Jews, all over the world, extinct. Beinart can't digest that because he is a liberal progressive who believes people can't be that bad, and worse, he consistently seeks, in all manner of convultionary presentations, to paint Israel as the most responsible for all the evil in the Middle East because, he claims, Israel can do something to solve the situation but won't.
As for those "peaceful, non-violent resisters in the 'West Bank'", it's a fairy-tale, a myth in his mind that he repeats. In Arabic cutlural terminology, 'resistance' is per se violence. And in the PLO Charter (not Hamas)
Article 9: Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine. Thus it is the overall strategy, not merely a tactical phase. The Palestinian Arab people assert their absolute determination and firm resolution to continue their armed struggle and to work for an armed popular revolution for the liberation of their country and their return to it.
No major demonstration of Arabs in Judea and Samaria since 1967 has been what a Westerner thinks is "peace, non-violent" . Labelling rock-throwing, firebomb-tossing rallies as "peace and non-violent" is lying.
Beinart lies and fools.
P.S. "Resistance" can also be rape. And check this.

It only a matter of time before people like Beinart and his fellow ultra-liberal Zionists publicly embrace the Anti-Israel camp.
