It's "Reoccupation"

I and many of my friends oppose the use of the term "occupation" to describe Israel's administration of Judea, Samaria and, at the time, Gaza.

Here is a part of Herbert Samuel's memorandum to the British Government in February 1916:





So, it appears that the term Samuel used to describe the return of the Jews to their country was that they would "reoccupy their land".  Who knew?

That, of course, was altered, in the preamble of the League of Nations decision to award a Mandate over Palestine to Great Britain, to read;


reconstituting their national home in that country
