Israel will retaliate — as forcefully as it did when it laid waste to Nablus and other Palestinian cities after the intifada
Did you know that?
If you didn't, well, that's what the New York Times claims Israel did in its lead editorial today.
Here, read it.
I responded by writing this letter:-
Your editorial ("Hamas at the helm", Feb. 2) asserts that Israel "laid waste to Nablus and other Palestinian cities after the intifada". This is in error and a grievous one.
If the reference is to Jenin, the myth of destruction and massacre has been unmasked as pure propaganda long ago. No Arab city, twon or village has been laid waste, a phrase that recalls what the Soviet army did to Berlin or what the United States did to Tokoyo. There is no factual justification for making such a claim.
