Major Findings:

1. American voters still see terrorism as a very serious threat to the United States.

Nationwide, voters are very concerned about the threat of terrorism and the development of nuclear weapons in Iran. In an open-ended question, voters say terrorism (15%) is the greatest threat to the United States. Nine in ten voters (91%) say that Iran supplying a nuclear umbrella for terrorists is a serious threat to the United States. This sentiment is strong across the board including among those who voted last year for Barack Obama. There is a great deal of intensity to this sentiment as nearly seven in ten voters (69%) say Iran supplying a nuclear umbrella for terrorists is a very serious threat.

But the poll's real importance is this, as Jennifer Rubin highlights:

But Americans are a skeptical lot, it seems. Asked “Do you think that if the Palestinians were given their own state in the West Bank and Gaza they would live peacefully with Israel or continue their campaign of terror to destroy Israel?” only 18% choose “live peacefully” (with only 7% of Republicans choosing “live peacefully” over “destroy Israel” while the Democrats’ split was far closer, 25-47%).

The bottom line: Americans are “not naive,” as the president likes to say, about Iran and are very supportive of Israel.

The result of this poll is no surprise given that Americans are if not ignorant careless about Palestine and the media bias towards Israel.

But it's not Americans but Palestinians themselves who will decide their desitny. Americans have no business to make this judgment.

Gali, does that also go for us Israelis? No US interference?

It does. However, for Israel it would also mean that US stops financial aid to Israel and vote with the rest of the world during the Security Counsil meetings on the question of Palestine. Oh and there would be no need for AIPAC, since the no interference applies both ways.
