The NYTimes quoted from Ehud Olmert's sppech in the Knesset today (Hebrew original here):-

“Was it necessary to also add the Shuafat refugee camp, Sawakhra, Walaje and other villages to Jerusalem and define them as part of Jerusalem?” he said in the Israeli Parliament, referring to several parts of the city absorbed by Israel. “I must therefore admit it is possible to raise legitimate questions.”

A legitimate question just like was it necessary for the Israel electorate to award Kadima, Olmert's part, a vote in the last elections that made it the largest party - but with less than 25% of the Knesset representation?

All I can presume is that Jerusalem, and all its neighborhoods will be around a lot longer than Olmert.
