A Palestinian woman was shot and wounded at a West Bank checkpoint by
Israeli soldiers on Friday who mistook her plastic gun for a real weapon, a military spokeswoman said.
"A Palestinian suspected of having a weapon was wounded this morning at a military checkpoint in the northern West Bank when soldiers ordered her to stop. She didn't and the soldiers fired at her legs," the spokeswoman
said.
"The soldiers then realised that the Palestinian actually had a toy -- a plastic gun," she said.
Which reminds us of the party scene in "The Graduate":
Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Just how do you mean that, sir?
And they shot at her legs, remember.
