BBC Bungling

Jon Williams of the BBC explains that Cpl. Shalit was "captured" and not "kidnapped" because only civilians are kidnapped.

There are 132 comments there at the site so I didn't even glance at so many but my thought is that if he was captured, then the forces that captured him must be recognized as possessing some form of official status because, according to my logic, only criminal kidnap. Capturing is done by official security forces whether police or army.

So, not only does the BBC refuse to apply the term "terrorism" but it has now granted a status to these persons that they could only hope to be awarded.

Nice going, BBC.

P.S. Okay, so on second thought I did peek at the comments and one person, Ilan, pointed out that in August 2000, the BBC described British soldiers as "kidnapped" in Sierra Leone. Again, nice going BBC.
