Will The PA Move Towards Democracy?

Reported:-

...the PA president is considering calling an election in the Palestinian Authority, the first since Hamas won the parliamentary election in 2006.

It seems that Abbas and his advisers are considering offering Hamas a joint election in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Wow.

Did you know that no general elections have been conducted in the PA for over seven (7) years?

Did you know that Abbas' term as president ended on 9 January 2009?  And that he was elected in January 2005, eight-and-a-half years ago?

Did you know that it was on January 25, 2006 that elections were held for the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), the legislature of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), seven-and-a-half years ago?

Did you know that general municipal elections were conducted in four rounds?  That the first round was held in two parts, December 23, 2004 in 22 localities in the West Bank and then on January 27, 2005 in 14 localities in the Gaza Strip and that the second round was held on May 5, 2005 in 76 localities in the West Bank and 6 in the Gaza Strip and that the third round was held on September 29, 2005 in 104 localities in the West Bank only and, that finally, the fourth round of local elections was held on December 15, 2005 in 37 population centers in the West Bank and 3 in the Gaza Strip and that in some districts elections were canceled?

Do you know that proposals for elections have been proposed but never fulfilled and that Hamas disputes the right of Abbas to call elections?

Do you think the PA is democratic?

Do you think it can ever be democratic?

Do you support the establishment of a state of Palestine?

Are you a democratic person?

If you answered "yes" to the last four questions, who are you kidding?
