Where Was Israel's Media Presence?

As we know now, the landscaping operation on the northern border was pre-arranged with the Lebanese and with UNIFIL.*

So, the other side was all ready and, it would seem, had their correspondents and photographers in place.

So, if the IDF attempted to make sure all was okay, why were our media people left out? Why was it a secret of one side only?

If Israel's mainstream media were observing, there would have been pictures and film and a story in almost real time.

This wasn't a secret raid.

We could have done better, media-wise.

________

* from the official IDF release:

Earlier today during the mid-day hours, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) fired at an IDF position along the Lebanese border in northern Israel. The force was in Israeli territory, carrying out routine maintenance and was pre-coordinated with UNIFIL. The border area is east of the Israeli town Metula. The incident occurred west of the internationally recognized "Blue Line" (the border between Israel and Lebanon) and east of the security fence, thus lying in Israeli territory.
