Didn't Israel Already Turn Right?

TIME Magazine has Israel turning right (but incorrectly datelined Jan. 28)

But in February 2009, 4 years ago, we read this

Israel's right turn
The front-runners in today's elections have emphasized security over peacemaking

And on  February 12, 2009, the Wall Street Journal had it as Israel's Semi-Right Turn and explained

No surprise, given recent events.

How many times do/can we turn right?

And why are journalists surprised?
