That is, on the right, U.S. Consul General Michael Ratney with USAID colleague Michael Harvey visiting last Thursday Mayor Vera Baboun in Bethlehem. This was their first meeting following Mayor Baboun's election in October. They heard about her ambitious plans to increase tourism and revitalize the city to cut unemployment. The Mayor gave Ratney a book about Bethlehem’s history, architecture, and culture, and let him sample some of Bethlehem’s pastries.
I wonder if Bethlehem's Jewish history was included in that book.
