At various locations around the city, the Municipality has put up over the years commemorative signs indicating where famous acts of heroism took place in the struggle to establish Jewish independence.

Heaven knows, there is no shortage of native English speakers to do proofreading. I think the woman who wrote "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" would have a seizure over what has become routine here in OFFICIAL English abusage.
I would be willing, RIGHT THIS MINUTE to volunteer for a citizens' proofreading patrol.
