Britain: Settlement for Gurkhas
Bowing to a campaign led by the actress Joanna Lumley, the government of Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Thursday that it would ease immigration laws to allow as many as 36,000 Nepalese soldiers who served in the Gurkha units of the British Army before 1997 to settle with their families in Britain.
