Open Air prison Camp?

Rashid Khalidi:

characterized Gaza as an "open air prison camp."

Well, there is a fence on one side but that's to protect Israelis from above-ground land-based terror (it doesn't help against Qassams or tunnels).

The fence on the south keeps that out of Egypt who doesn't desire their presence.

And then, there is the unfenced sea.

Israel controls the air space, the fence does in fact keep people in, and imports that could potentially come in from Egypt's border are blocked by Israel who have cameras on the border and the right to veto anyone/thing from entering there. Israeli forces may enter when they please (and they do), and the coast is not open for potential imports.

no imports from Egypt are blocked including cows, weapons, cars and there are Gaza exports.
