Jews Being Wrong on Wright

I received this not from a friend

October 29, 2008

Dear Present and Potential Members of the Society of Jewish Ethics:

I hope that you have marked your calendars for the next meeting of the Society of Jewish Ethics, which will take place January 9-11, 2009. Highlights include plenary sessions with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright entitled, "Where's the Outrage?¡ and a timely presentation on the ethics of government power featuring Bob Edgar, the head of Common Cause. We will be introducing a more discussion-oriented format in a session chaired by Moshe Pava on immigrant labor issues that in part grows out of the crises in the kosher food industry.

You can see the exciting program attached and obtain registration materials at http://societyofjewishethics.org. The SJE meets in conjunction with the Society of Christian Ethics

The Board of SJE consists of such 'personages' as Present: David Teutsch, Toby Schonfeld, Aaron Mackler, Adrienne Asch, Jonathan Crane, David Novak, Elliot Dorff and Dov Nelkin.

I checked and sure enough, the 2009 Annual Meeting has this session:

Hyatt Regency, Chicago
January 8-11, 2009

Thursday, January 8
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
SJE Board Meeting
Location: Picasso

Friday, January 9
9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
Plenary Session: "Where is the Moral Outrage?"

Speaker: Jeremiah Wright, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago IL
Respondent: Marcia Riggs, Columbia Theological Seminary
J. Philip Wogaman, Wesley Theological Seminary
Convener: Darryl Trimiew, Medgar Evers College

If there is any outrage to be expressed it is over a Jewish organization providing a platfrom for the Rev. Wright who can refer to Israel as a "dirty word".

How do you say: oiy vey!
