The Difference in Study Method

I saw this picture of two Jews studying the Talmud. It's from an advertisement for a new edition of the Talmud, the "Veshinantem" Lublin Shas edition:



And I thought I spied something different.

And so, I checked.














And sure enough, no one else is holding a pen.
