Reed College Students All Killed By Secret Jewish Cabal

That, of course, is not true.

But what was published in a university newspaper?

This story:

A student editor at a college campus-run humor publication in Portland says he and others plan to be more cautious when making decisions about the newspaper's content after running a phony article that said students at another college killed all the Jews at their school.

Glenn Harrison, a student at Reed College and an editor and writer for The Pamphlette, said in an e-mail to The Oregonian that..."We were negligent as editors and members of the community," he wrote. "We are now more aware of the effect of our writing, and we will be exercising more cautious editorial judgment going forward."

The article appeared last week, and it took aim at students at Lewis & Clark College...The article carried the headline "LC students kill Jewish people."

It begins: "In what is being called a 'tragic, but all too predictable' event, the staff of The Leaphlette, a student humor publication at Lewis & Clark College, have been accused of rounding up and gassing all of the Jews on their Portland, OR, campus."

The phony article goes on to describe students asking the chemistry department for a chemical to conduct "Jewsperiments" and a "towering crematorium" where the library once stood.

...Harrison said that Pamphlette editors didn't know about the swastika incident at Lewis & Clark when the story ran.

He said the article was a response to a commentary published in Reed's regular student newspaper. A previous Pamphlette article had spoofed Anne Frank's diary, which resulted in the other paper's criticism that satirizing the Holocaust "enables real genocide," said Harrison, a 21-year-old senior and sociology major...
This is so not funny.

How stupid can university students be?

I am very embarrassed for Reed College. It is the responsibility of the college administration to uphold it's reputation as a leader of higher education.

The Pamphlette has shown years of minority bashing. But the sad reality is that it's main target is the Jews. It wasn't bad enough to upset the Reed Community but now they have to take it to Lewis & Clark College. When is going to stop? And who has the guts to stop it?

It's time for the Pamphlette to heal the community and print something worth while. Not empty apologies.

If you think that this article is an embarrassment, you would only be right if you were referring to the media blunder it has spawned. The article is poking fun at "people who put their sensibilities on a hair trigger and sat around, waiting to be offended by stuff" who would have "written in really self-righteous letters to the student newspaper about that holocaust article.” (Yes, this is from the original article.) The fact that this article picked up this kind of attention is extremely ironic.

The media's unfit summary of the article, "Reed students joke that L&C kills Jews" off target not only in tone but in content.

This is a nonsensical over-reaction to what was obviously a satire. The Pamphlette is a satirical paper; readers knew they were joking. And if someone reading a satirical paper can't take a joke--why would they read it? Only incredible boredom or desire for drama could have spawned such nonsense.

The only thing Reed should be embarrassed about is giving any modicum of credibility to nonsensical oversensitivity to a joke. I read it, laughed, and moved on with my life. Anyone who read it and got upset...needs to reevaluate their life. Instead of an uproar over a clear JOKE, how about raising an issue of importance? Or is that too real and requiring of true effort?

You, a Zionist, obviously have an agenda--an agenda rooted in the misuse and exploitation of history to justify the criminal state of Israel. Grow up, learn to take a joke, and re-evaluate whether or not the outlaw government of Israel is really worth the irrational idealism.

And you, of course, have no agenda and this claptrap of prejudice and latent hatred is, what, satire? humor? goyishce taking it out on Jews?

that last part about an outlaw gov't is a joke, right? or is it just you who is the joke?

Latent hatred? There was nothing disparaging about Jews in the article if you had read it. It clearly set up a humorous and absurd situation, and, most importantly, was placed not in the Reed newspaper, but in the SATIRICAL paper. It was a funny article.

And no, Israel is an outlaw government--over 30 UN Security Council resolutions in the past 26 years have condemned Israel (of course, vetoed by the US; and nearly 200 resolutions since its inception. You are riding on the back of Jewish tragedies to defend the nation that has been known to use chemical weapons, intentionally attack UN settlements, and defy international law.

To you, the article had nothing to do with anything--you jumped on it, solely so you can perpetuate false-victimhood in the same world where you defend slaughter by Israeli politicians in the name of the Jews.

It may have been absurd satire, but it was satire nonetheless. Again, it was in a satirical paper. It's curious how you weren't up in arms about the same editions "racist" section about Black History Month. Does your silence equate to assent to satire of other kinds of people and situations?

And are you denying Israel's violations of international law? Israel essentially admitted it was violating international law in its (UN-condemned) annexation of the Golan Heights. Israel even defied the International Court of Justice when it ruled that the wall-building was illegal. And Israel's bombing of UN HQ in January of this year--with the use of WHITE PHOSHORUS--blatant violations of international law and sensibility.

It means something when most of the world condemns a country, with the only typical supporter being the US. Unless you are seriously stating that every nation in the world, except the US, have engaged in a campaign against less than a fraction of a percent of the worlds population, for 50 years.

Also--the Israeli government is NOT the nation of the Jews. It's State propaganda claims that--but any reasonable Jew would condemn the government of Israel's violence and arrogance. Its not a matter of religion, its a matter of a government gone haywire.

And by the way, I'll excuse your slander of me and anyone who defends free speech and jokes as "antisemites".
