Who Is That Visiting the Temple Mount Next to the Mufti?

A picture taken in March 1934:

The woman to the Mufti Haj Amin El-Husseini, is Princess Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood and her husband, Henry Charles George, Viscount Lascelles.

Mary was the daughter of King George V and sister to the Duke of Windsor or in his previous life, Edward VIII.

They are in the Temple Mount.  And in this picture, you can observe the very different physical situation on the ground then (they are at the north-west area of the compound - emptiness, in a word:

Another British royal, The Duke of Connaught, son of Queen Victoria, visits the Mosque of Omar in Jerusalem, 22nd May 1918, to congratulate Allenby:

As for other important visitors:

that's the French High Commissioner for Syria, M. Gabriel Puaux and party on Nov. 18, 1939.

And this is King Hussein aka Sharif Hussein bin Ali (great great grandfather of the current Jordanian monarch) in his coffin on June 4 1931

And below is Monsieur & Madame Edouard Herriot, three-time French Premier, visiting on May 11, 1938

And a last one, of three American Senators in 1936 (I blogged about them earlier, here and here):

You'll realize that none of them are Jewish.

P.S.

One Roman Catholic Cardinal.
