Miriam Ben-Porat o"h

Miriam Ben-Porat has died at age 94.

She was a Supreme Court Justice, State Comptroller and I knew her best as Charperson of the Central Elections Committee for the Knesset when I was a member.

Justice Ben-Porat made a point of attending, after her retirement, almost all of the public events organized by educational and cultural institutions here in Jerusalem associated with the nationalist camp, including the Begin Center, the Uri Tzvi Greenberg House and other groups connected with the Jabotinsky Movement and the former Underground resistance groups. I am not sure this was because of her late husband's connections or her own convictions but it was heartening to see her present.
