David Michael Shayler and I (and Jesus)

This afternoon, David Michael Shayler informed me that he is Jesus.

We were in the midst of filming part of a film on outlandish religious personalities for the National Geographic (don't rush, it probably won't air for some time). The crew had been in Siberia a week or so ago and here they were in Shiloh.

We toured the Tel, the Central Synagogue and talked about the meaning of Genesis 49:10.

I decided to learn more about Mr. Shayler.

There's a lot, but let's stick the relevant sections:

Here:

In an article in the Daily Mail Shayler claimed that he was the son of God stating, "I am the messiah and hold the secret of eternal life," and that he was the reincarnation of various historical figures. This claim is echoed on his official website where he notes that "David Michael Shayler -- ‘Sheylr’ in Hebrew ... was anointed Messiah on 2 July 2007 and proclaimed on 07.07.07, in line with ancient prophecies". He also claims to have divine powers which allow him to influence the weather, prevent terror attacks and predict football scores.

This:

After hearing Shayler's claims, along with his claims MI5 failure to prevent the bombing of the Israeli embassy in London on 26 July 1994 and his claims MI5 had some involvement in the attempted assassination of Colonel Gaddafi, Machon agreed to resign from MI5 so Shayler could go public with his claims...In 2007 Machon ended her relationship with Shayler due to his alleged use of hallucinogenics and his claims that he is the Messiah...In an interview published in April 2009 Machon claimed that Mossad carried out the bombing of the Israeli embassy in London and 1994 AMIA bombing as a false flag attack.

Despite all that and much more, like:

Shayler earned notoriety after being prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act for his passing secret documents to the Mail on Sunday in August 1997 that alleged that MI5 was paranoid about socialists, and that it had previously investigated Labour Party ministers

he seemed fairly in control of himself and much thinner than the pictures there except for walking barefoot.
