PR: Commercial vs. Public Diplomatic

Hasbara.

You know, promoting Israel's case and cause. Responding to Arab and Left-wing untruths.

How much does Israel invest in it?

I really don't know. I'll try to find out.(*)

But I do know how much the top 20 commercial and business firms sink into PR.

612 million (yes, million) NIS.

That's about $150 million or so.

How do I know that?

Here's the table that The Marker published this week:-

It includes such firms as Strauss, Gamble & Proctor, Ossem, Tnuva and Sano alongside mobile phone companies, banks, communications, etc.

I am willing to bet that soap, noodles and dairy products are worth more PR-wise than Israel's standing in the world, the right of Zionism and the safety of its population.

And that's a darn shame.

(*)
Of the $1 billion a year in Jewish philanthropy, how much do you think goes to advertise in the mainstream media the numerous contributions Israel makes to humanity? Virtually zero.
