The Palestinian Nakba in the Hebrew Poetery, 1948-1958, is a collection of Hebrew poetry written between the months of January 1948 and December 1958 in which traces of the Palestinian Nakba are present.
Tell not in Gath is an outcome of a long and extensive archival research in which book of Hebrew poetry as well as Hebrew newspaper and periodicals have been searched. The collection also includes testimonies of Palestinians who had lived in Palestine prior to 1948, who tell, in first person, of their lives in Palestine, their deportation from the land, and their lives after it. All testimonies are taken from the Zochrot booklets on the erased Palestinian towns and villages. The book starts with an essay by Prof. Hannan Hever, who also edited the collection.
Tell it not in Gath is a book published by Zochrot, Parrhesia and the Pardes Publishing House, and is the first book published by Sedek: A Journal on the Ongoing Nakba.

New research from Israel presented to the European Society of Sexual Medicine in Lyon, France in November suggests that a “shocking” new therapy might work to reinvigorate the male sexual organ in a very safe and effective manner. So far, the benefits of the treatment appear to be long lasting.
Dr. Yoram Vardi, head of the Neuro-Urology Department at the Ramban Medical center in Haifa, Israel, has found that the same device that uses shockwaves to blast kidney stones appears to have a restorative effect on the blood vessels of the penis.
In an initial study of 20 middle-aged men with erectile dysfunction – an inability to maintain an erection – for more than three years, researchers conducted a series of treatments that comprised three weeks of shockwave therapy administered in two 20-minute sessions each week.
The patients were allowed to rest for three weeks and then an additional course of low-dose shockwave treatments, with about 100 bars of pressure per shockwave, was administered over another three-week period, using a device that resembles a computer mouse.
Vardi found mostly consistent results in all 15 of the 20 men who benefited from the therapy. All the men noted a return of erectile functioning around the seven-week mark, and a six-month follow-up found that for 13 of the men, the effects were long lasting, while two will require additional treatments.
“There was no pain or additional side effects within six months,” Vardi tells ISRAEL21c. “There was an improvement [in erectile function]. A huge improvement.”

...Ms. Rosenthal would do well to study these points to gain an understanding of the problem that will predominate her portfolio. Today, individual Jews around the world are blamed for Israel's actions and Israel is denounced for genocide and Nazi-like actions...
Ms. Rosenthal's criticisms of Ambassador Oren strike a chord particularly because this is not her policy portfolio to advocate. She is supposed to fight anti-Semitism, not defend J-Street, an organization on whose Advisory Board she formally sat before her appointment to the State Department.

The suicide bomber who killed seven C.I.A. officers and a Jordanian spy last week was a double agent who was taken onto the base in Afghanistan because the Americans hoped he might be able to deliver top members of Al Qaeda’s network, according to Western government officials.
The bomber had been recruited by the Jordanian intelligence service and taken to Afghanistan to infiltrate Al Qaeda by posing as a foreign jihadi, the officials said.
But in a deadly turnabout, the supposed informant strapped explosives to his body and blew himself up at a meeting Wednesday at the C.I.A.’s Forward Operating Base Chapman in the southeastern province of Khost.
The attack at the C.I.A. base dealt a devastating blow to the spy agency’s operations against militants in the remote mountains of Afghanistan, eliminating an elite team using an informant with strong jihadi credentials. The attack further delayed hope of penetrating Al Qaeda’s upper ranks, and also seemed potent evidence of militants’ ability to strike back against their American pursuers.
It could also jeopardize relations between the C.I.A. and the Jordanian spy service, which officials said had vouched for the would-be informant.
The Jordanian service, called the General Intelligence Directorate, for years has been one of the C.I.A.’s closest and most useful allies in the Middle East.
The U.S. State Department expressed its "complete support" for its anti-Semitism envoy and encouraged "broad dialogue" toward Israeli-Palestinian peace.
A statement Monday from the State Department said it would not add comment to a controversy that erupted in the last weeks of December when Hannah Rosenthal criticized Michael Oren, the Israeli ambassador, for snubbing the dovish lobbying group J Street.
However, the statement went on, "Special Envoy Rosenthal has the complete support of the department. As a matter of longstanding policy the United States has supported a peaceful solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. To that end the U.S.. government encourages broad dialogue among responsible partners for peace.."
...Separately, Rosenthal's predecessor, Gregg Rickman, has slammed her for her remarks about Oren.
"Ms. Rosenthal's criticisms of Ambassador Oren strike a chord particularly because this is not her policy portfolio to advocate," said Rickman, who served in the Bush adminsitration, in an opinion piece on The Cutting Edge News Web site. ...It [the war in Lebanon 2006] was a very unusual conflict, at least from my experience. I covered the Liberian civil war in West Africa, and you couldn’t get more different. In the whole of Lebanon, I don’t think I even heard a shot fired. There was very little shooting. There was no small-arms fire. There was nobody firing guns — I’m talking about the places media could get to. It was all from the air. You think of a war and you think of soldiers firing at each other. Nobody was using small arms around us. You’d walk around and all you could hear was this “bzzz” of the drones in the sky — these unmanned aircraft. It tells you that someone’s watching you, that you are being seen from the sky. And then you’re walking around and, suddenly, some huge bomb takes out an apartment block. It’s random. I’m not suggesting at all the Israelis dropped the bombs randomly. They obviously had targeting and intelligence about where they were putting them. But from a journalist’s perspective on the ground, it was random as to when it was going to happen. You couldn’t predict it.And I left a comment on the matter of proportional response.

Jumblat: No Alternative to Power Sharing

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat has said there was no way out of power sharing in the issue of administrative and security appointments in state institutions.
"Power-sharing is a rule imposed by the sectarian system," the MP told As Safir daily in remarks published Monday. However, he insisted that qualified and competent candidates could be chosen despite power-sharing.
Asked if he had any particular demands on the issue of appointments, Jumblat said: "When the big guys reconcile, we become like 'Jarbeedi' fish that is caught in the sea."
Deadly bombing targeting Hamas on Hezbollah turf remains shrouded in mystery

An explosion went off Saturday night just a few blocks from where hundreds of Shiite Muslims had gathered to hear Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah address the faithful on the eve before the last day of Ashura, the annual 10-day commemoration of Imam Hussein, who was killed in the 7th century.
Hezbollah's TV station Al Manar did not interrupt its live coverage of the speech, but its fighters were busy securing the area and reportedly prevented Lebanese security forces from entering at first.
Early news reports claimed the blast was caused by a car bomb, inciting fears of a sectarian attack that could draw retaliation and drag the country into renewed civil conflict. Later, authorities confirmed the explosion was caused by a bomb in the basement of a Hamas office, killing at least two people and injuring several others.
But so far, Hamas has declined to speculate publicly about who might be responsible for the attack, which for now remains an enigma.

Israel is understandably frustrated by the difficulty of fighting Hamas, an urban-based armed group that indiscriminately attacks Israeli civilians. But the kind of asymmetric warfare that typifies combat with terrorist and other armed groups is nothing new. It was widespread at the time of the adoption of the Geneva Conventions in 1949, as illustrated by the militant Zionist group Irgun’s fight against the British colonial rule of what was then Palestine.
In 1936, at the height of the Rebellion, the old city was the hideout of armed rebels and its alleys were formidable. The British...moved in with a huge force and dynamited a Y shaped passage, linking the harbor to an opening towards Clock Square. Then they bulldozed the rubble to make a swift passage for armored cars. This surgical act of urban clearing was captured in its razor sharpness in three photographs shot from the air (you can see them in Sarah-Graham Brown's social history of Mandate Palestine).
The biggest single act of destruction occurred in Jaffa on June 16, 1936, when large gelignite charges were used to cut long pathways through the old city, destroying 220–240 buildings and rendering up to 6,000 Arabs homeless.
At a demonstration near Ramallah Sunday night, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad told a crowd that a future Arab state in Judea and Samaria must be free of all Jews. Fayyad, who was never elected to his office democratically, was an economist for the International Monetary Fund until being handpicked by former United States President George W. Bush to lead the PA.
Palestinian Prime Minister, Dr. Salaam Fayyad, stated during a press conference in Ramallah that the future Palestinian state must be settlements free and without the Annexation Wall...Fayyad added that the time has come to move on and end this transitional period, and that Israel must fulfill its obligations and stop all of its settlement activities.

a) "government employees", I guess, to be more exact, should have been "government appointees" so that you could understand my point. Lower-status officials don't criticise foreign dignities in or visiting their country, especially ambassadors who do have immunity. Richard, it's just not done. You criticise policies, never the person, in that situation, if at all, and obliquely. Who is Rosenthal, 'dopey' or not, married to a Jew or not, member formerly of the organization which is the subject of the remark or not, to make such a statement? She's not a Foreign Minister or Sec'y of State. Don't you get so choleric that you lose your focus or suggest I say "up theirs". Really, now. I do not hate, not even his ‘guts’. I pity his position and character and ideology for they are all wrong. I do not like his kowtowing. I feel sorry for Jews like that. But not hate. We compromised in 1923 when the British stole eastern Eretz-Yisrael to give to some Saudi Arabian refugee; we agreed to a partition in 1937; another in 1947 – but the Arabs didn’t and there was terror and violence. Think: there was no “occupation” before June 5, 1967 and no “settlements” either – but there was Arab terror and no peace. Why? What problem that existed then be solved by now dealing with Jewish communities populated by revenant Jews?

It’s not spiteful hatred. It’s an honest statement. Any ideology that victimizes others in order to succeed is bound to fail. People such as yourself, who champion this ideology beyond any moderation, are the frontrunners in causing their own destruction.
Palestine has been under occupation for at least 62 years. It is common knowledge. Arab terror is and has been a response to that occupation. That is a simple fact, too.
You also show yourself to be a racist, making remarks about Muslims and birth rates that you cannot support. And I have seen plenty of murder and rape lately, by settlers with Palestinians for their victims. You also seem to enjoy vandalizing Muslim places of worship, cowards that you are, as well as running over Palestinians with your cars.
Arabs kill Jews? Well, how about looking at the statistics throughout the occupation, you will notice that four times as many Arabs have been murdered as Jews. Last year, Jews killed 1,400 Palestinians in Gaza alone. Your perpetual victimhood is all in your mind; reality is quite different.
Your version of history is quite erroneous also. You may wish to read Ilan Pappe’s book, “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.” It is not his words that are speaking the history of Zionism in Palestine; he quotes David Ben Gurion and many others, and supports his narrative with thorough and reputable research and sources.

Your “common knowledge” is quite uncommon. The Zionist Movement in accepting the 1947 Partition Plan recognized an Arab Palestine state. The Arabs refused to do likewise for a Jewish state in the Palestine Mandate (70% or so of which the British already stole from the Mandate to reconstitute the Jewish National Home for something called “Jordan” in 1923). They made the Jews victimes, as they had been doing since the Jerusalem riots of 1920, the Hebron massacre of 1929 and the country-wide pogroms and raids of 1936-1939. Can’t you get your facts straight?
As for statistics, if not one Qassam had been fired, not one Arab – or Jew for that matter – would have been harmed. Leaving Gaza in toto, sans Jewish communities in 2005 was not enough obviously.
