Rescind the Moratorium

Cabinet Secretary Tzvi Hauser issued the following statement after the Security Cabinet meeting today (Wednesday), 9.12.09:

"The Security Cabinet convened in Jerusalem this morning to continue its discussions on issues regarding relations with the Palestinians.

Intelligence and security establishment officials briefed ministers on the Palestinian Authority's refusal to resume the negotiations with Israel despite the series of gestures and steps Israel has made in recent months. These include – inter alia – first and foremost, the suspension of new construction in Judea and Samaria, as well as the removal of roadblocks, encouraging the Palestinian economy and strengthening coordination.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "It seems that the Palestinians have adopted a strategy of rejecting negotiations with Israel in order to avoid the demands of Israel and the international community which require compromises on their part. But this is a mistake. There can be no genuine solution without direct negotiations with Israel, in the framework of which, we will reach agreements and arrangements between the sides."

So, will PM Netanyhau now rescind the moratorium?
