Imus is being raked over the coals for his remarks directed against black females. However, when he has referred to Jews in a demeaning and insultative manner, the public outrage and its echo in the mainstream press, was more low-keyed.
Back on November 30, 2006, he referred to "The Jewish management at, whoever we work for, CBS" and called them "money-grubbing bastards". ADL felt the need to protest his remarks of December 15, 2004 about "thieving Jews," and his subsequent apology when he said, "I apologize [for saying thieving Jews] I realize that's redundant."
It seems the litmus test color of black is much more sensitive.

You are so right. I found it unbelieveable that many Jewish people continued to appear on his show after he said the anti Jewish things in 2006. I think that these people lacked courage to confront Imus. They cared more about their own self-promotion than they did about providing silent consent to the voice of anti Semitism and racism. It took Al Sharpton to really push this until it became a huge issue, which broke into the mainstream and resulted in the meltdown. I give Al Sharpton a lot of credit for fuelling this most just firing. I also credit Staples, Proctor and Gamble, and GM. They are all fine companies which deserve support. I suspect that if the Rutgers incident had been the first time he was ever racist, he would have been able to keep his job. This firing is sweet revenge for all of the hateful words this man has injected into so many mornings, up to and including his stupid comments about the Rutgers ladies basketball team. It is absolute justice that he be off the air now. It's about time!!!
