Another Pal. Pallywood Prevarication

Last Tuesday, I caught out our neighbors prevaricating about a supposed fire we set that destroyed Arab trees and crops.

It was all a lie.

And now they are doing it again, or at least, trying to do so.

Don't believe them.

They've published this:

UPDATED WITH VIDEO:
13 year-old boy shot at by settlers, tortured by soldiers, denied medical attention

19th May 2013 | International Solidarity Movement, Team Nablus | Qaryut, Occupied Palestine

UPDATED: The 13-year-old Qaryut boy attacked by settlers on 16 May completed an operation on his lower leg and foot on Friday and has since been released to recover at home. He also provided a full account of his attack and the time he spent in an Israeli jeep untreated and tortured for information he neither had nor could speak of due to the pain from his untreated injury.

The boy said he was alone on his land near the illegal settlement of Eli when he was attacked. His friend was coming to join him when settlers began shooting at the boy. He ran, but fell from a big drop in the land, being on the mountainside. Settlers pursued him but he dragged himself on his stomach by some bushes. He was in great pain but kept quiet, afraid of settlers or soldiers finding him and continuing to attack him. After some time, his phone rang when his sister and friend called him. The soldiers then found and descended on him, threatening him with their guns while he lay, unable to move, on the ground.

Below is video [shot by B. Qaryoute] of the boy’s harassment when the Israeli soldiers found him; the video is taken in the village area down the mountain from the nearest illegal Eli settlement houses, in view of the land where the boy was attacked. He said that the soldiers and settlement security official (DCI) threatened to kill him.

No one from the village could come to the boy’s aid for risk of being shot at by the soldiers. Local Red Crescent representatives said that a man from the municipality was with the soldiers and was told that the boy would be treated in an Israeli ambulance and possibly taken to an Israeli hospital. However, as the Red Crescent, the boy’s family, solidarity activists and nearby villagers waited, watching the soldiers on top of the mountain for two to three hours, the boy was untreated and tortured by Israeli army officials for information. “They said I was trying to set fire to the land by the settlement; they said I was with three others and had a lighter and a firebomb,” the boy said. “They would twist my leg every ten minutes or so when I would not give them names [of those with whom he was accused of conspiring].” The boy said he was also beat for information.

The boy’s interrogators also told him they had pictures him, evidence against him, and that a soldier had seen him. “Why don’t you ask the soldier, then?” the boy said. Reportedly the response to this question was, “No, I want to ask you.”

Finally, the local Red Crescent brought an ambulance to the entrance of the illegal settlement where they were given the boy, untreated. The boy’s grandfather said that his grandson’s flesh near his ankle was open, his leg wobbly, and black flesh showed from the boy’s yet untreated injury. The Red Crescent immediately took the boy to the nearest hospital in Nablus: Rafedia hospital 30-45 minutes away.
When solidarity activists saw the boy, his entire right leg was wrapped in a cast. Later he described that he was sitting on his land which is close to an illegal Israeli settlement bordering Qaryut and famous for attacks such as olive tree torching. Settlers shot at him and he ran from the shots. When he fell, the settlers beat him and were going to kill him, but soldiers arrived and told the settlers could not. Afterwards, the soldiers also shouted at the boy with guns pointed at him.
The boy may undergo surgery for his broken bones.
Just two days before this attack, Qaryut faced an olive tree torching attack from another nearby illegal Israeli settlement and the village has a history of well-documented settler attacks on its land.  In addition, Israeli military have closed a Qaryut road to Nablus and Ramallah for Palestinian use as the road is not far from illegal Israeli settlements on Qaryut land. Currently, 15 mostly young Qaryut men have been arrested for activism in peaceful demonstrations against the key road’s closure.

The simple truth is that that boy and his friend attempted to infiltrate the HaYovel neighborhood of Eli.

The alert system caused soldiers to begin scouting the area, which is not far from Qaryut.  Seeing that they were about to be discovered, they two fled.  One managed to escape while the other fell while descending the terraced hillside and severely fractured his leg.

He lay there for at least 20 minutes, undiscovered.

Once he was spotted, the first concern was that he had a bomb on his body and you can observe them approaching him with extreme caution.  His injury was not immediately apparent until the soldiers drew close.

They did not torture him.

They did call an ambulance which, after a complicated extraction off the slope, transferred him to a Red Crescent ambulance with due haste.

All the rest is lies, fabrications.

Again,, the Pals. or the ISMers, perhaps, engaged in a Pallywood production.

Worse, as I suspect, they sent the kids off of a mission so they could film perhaps a real death and thus create a martyr.

These people are dangerous - dangerous to Arab children.

Who is in Solidarity with "Palestine"?

I have been following this for the last three days:-

ISM Palestine May 03 11:04AM -0700

This afternoon two British men and a Swedish woman were released after being held for 48 hours in an Israeli prison. The three activists who are with the International Solidarity Movement had been staying in the Palestinian village Izbet al-Tabib when over 60 Israel soldiers and a bulldozer arrived on Sunday afternoon with the intention of building a fence through a section of the village, annexing agricultural land. The three were charged with being in a closed military zone; however at the time of the arrests, the military provided the individuals with no paperwork to support this and the charges against them were
subsequently dropped. All three activists sustained injuries during their arrests: Rufus from the UK was hit in the face with a gun, causing severe cuts and bruises; Lisa from Sweden was kicked in the head and a woman in her 60s volunteering with the Michigan Peace Team was hospitalised with a head injury and two broken wrists, she was released from hospital yesterday but is awaiting surgery...

For more information contact ISM media on 00972597606276

I am amazed that that third ISMer, the elderly lady, is still unidentified by name.

Either they don't know who she is or maybe she is afraid of being identified as perhaps her family thinks she's on a vacation in Africa?

To Whom Do I Express Condolences?

The question is, now that we know that human rights activist Vittoria Arrigoni is dead, to whom do I express condolences?

Family?

Italian gov't?

Left-wing progressive ISMers?

Israeli 'peaceniks'?

Hamas?

Just Watch Out For Tsunamis

Are you willing to go to Gaza?

The International Solidarity Movement is appealing for activists to join our team in the besieged Gaza Strip. In recent months numerous people have managed to cross into Gaza through Egypt, so at present, there is a small window of opportunity to enter.

...ISM Gaza volunteers accompany farmers and demonstrators in the ‘buffer zone’, as well as working to strengthen the link between Gazan students and the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. Visit http://www.palsolidarity.org/main/category/gaza/ to watch videos and read reports by ISM Gaza.

...Those interested in joining the ISM Gaza team are *required* to attend a preliminary training in their home country and have communicate with the volunteers in Gaza prior to arrival. Entering Gaza is an arduous process that requires some time to be spent in Egypt.  For more information about where to attend a preliminary training or other questions, please email gazaism@gmail.com.

Remember, though, no boozing, no immodest dress, no making out, no overt Church-going and watch out for those Fatah-Hamas punch-ups.

Oh, and watch out for tsunamis.

On The ISM

Finally, a serious study.

For example:

While ISM activists do not directly participate in terrorist attacks against Israel, both in its manuals and in statements its senior figures have justified the Palestinian's armed campaign, even at the height of the Palestinian suicide bombing attacks (during the second intifada). In addition, an analysis of ISM activities on the ground showed that ISM activists sheltered a Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative involved in suicide bombing and shooting attacks, and in laying IEDs. They also hindered IDF counterterrorism activities, including the detonation of an explosives laboratory where bombs used in suicide bombing attacks were made. Moreover, in addition to activities to support the Palestinians, ISM activists participated in events which included "soft" violence where both Palestinian demonstrators and IDF security forces suffered casualties. ISM activists, fully aware of the risks involved, carried out activities in war zones where the IDF was operating against Palestinian terrorists, risking their own lives. In 2006 several ISM activists holding weapons were photographed arriving in Judea and Samaria.
And this:

It has an anti-Israeli ideology: The ISM frequently represents itself as against violence and in favor of human rights, as respecting international law and UN resolutions, and as striving for a "just peace." However, an examination of its official papers and the statements made by its senior figures indicates that its orientation and ideology are anti-Israeli and anti-Zionist, adopting the Palestinians' most extreme demands. Its hostility to Israel is often based on a critical worldview of the United States and its policies, especially regarding the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq after the September 11 attacks. The ISM not only rejects the policies of every Israeli government ("the Israeli apartheid in Palestine"), but also the existence of Israel as a national homeland for the Jews. Publications and statements of ISM activists stress the implementation of the Palestinian refugees' "right of return" to Israel, reject the Oslo Accords, and make no mention of a two-state solution. However, the ISM is often somewhat vague about its basic positions, which makes it easier to find a common denominator with human rights and peace activists, including Jews, some of whom do not deny Israel's right to exist but strongly oppose its policies toward the Palestinians.

Rachel Corrie's Trial in the NYTimes

From what I know, which is not minimal, Ethan Bronner's piece on the Rachel Corrie trial taking place in a civil suit in Haifa, urged by an US government official (Lawrence B. Wilkerson, who was chief of staff to then-Secretary of State Colin L. Powell), is relatively fair.

But this last punchline is misleading:

Cindy Corrie added, “An Israeli colonel said at this trial that there are no civilians in a war zone. But there are. If that hadn’t been the army’s attitude, maybe my daughter would still be with us.”

What the officer meant to say, and was a bit garbled by his poor grammar, was that once an area is declared a military zone, as was that specific strip of land where the bulldozer was working, an area that was a terrorist hotbed, it is the responsibility of civilians not to be there. Any protests are at their own risk, especially if not coordinated as happens in other places.

This, of course, is beside the actual point of how and why Rachel Corrie died, whether she was a 'peace' activist or a supporter of Arab violence against Jewish civilians and other issues.

See, though, here and also here.

Request for Legal Assistance against ISM

New York Attorney Andrew Nitzberg has asked for assistance in locating witnesses. Please read the following and help out if you can.
=====================================================

My name is Andrew Nitzberg and I am a trial attorney practicing largely in the state of New York. I am the lawyer responsible for the trial victory of Lee Kaplan against Mohammed Salahi earlier this year. (The action was for private speech by Salahi that cost Lee Kaplan several jobs. The 'free speech' defense fell flat because this was for private, not public, speech. The court records and decision are posted online by the California court administration.)

I am filing for an injunction against George Mason University for their upcoming conference of the 'International Solidarity movement', the US wing of Hamas.

I need assistance in the form of evidence. Of course there is lots of evidence to show that the ISM is a violent, Jew-hating group which directly assists terrorists in coming to their targets and similar activities. But i need evidence admissible in a court of law.

No one will be required to appear in court or to travel (except me -- the pro bono (unpaid) lawyer).

1. I need statements from persons who have directly observed ISM personnel stating things like, "Kill the Jews", "We support the resistance of the Palestinian people even when they engage in Terrorism" , "We work with Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza", "We work with Hizballah".

Persons attending the Michigan ISM conference in (I think) 2002 would be very helpful here.)

2. I need statements indicating that persons have observed ISM persons beating up persons who do not support the agenda of the ISM (this should be very easy- they beat people up every year at these things.)

3. I need statements that persons have personally observed ISM personnel with weapons or transporting weapons. Statements from ISM personnel that admit to such contact with weapons are excellent.

4. There are people looking for the 'perfect plaintiff' for the action. (We have general students (2) eager to sign on, but we would like the 'perfect plaintiff' -- who is a student (BA or grad)/administrator/faculty member who has a family member in Israel. (The Virginia criminal code makes this a very attractive plaintiff). Any
Jewish person is eligible because we can shake the family tree and find some relative who is living in Israel.

Thank you for this help. Every terrorist is my enemy because I am a friend to freedom. I am hopeful that I will find many friends in this effort.
