Uzi Dayan: School Pupils Should Visit the Temple Mount

Uzi Dayan suggests that schoolchildren in Israel must visit the Temple Mount.

An translated extract from the Maariv story:-

Visiting the Western Wall is not enough, and the school children must visit the Temple Mount.  It's only another 150 meters distant.  Yes, even in the political/security reality, they can ascend and if we arranged matters in Hebron, we can do it here, with all the sensitivity.  This is where the roots of the nation are and they must be able to visit there.  A similar place in Europe they'd visit without doubt.  And yes, it's a problem that locations connected with the Biblical narrative are the concern of religious persons solely.  I was raised in a secular environment but when we went on hikes, we took and quoted from the Bible.  And you can learn the material this way better than a Yeshiva student of 20 years study.

An Islamist response:

Gen. Uzi Dayan - the former deputy commanding general of the Israeli army and head of the National Security Council earlier - called on Israeli students to break into the Al Aqsa Mosque, and even intensify and allocate such intrusions of this site more than others, in the same context to repeat the scenario of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
For its part, the "Al-Aqsa Foundation" warned against his words and considered them a scheme of the occupation to split the Al-Aqsa Mosque temporally and spatially, noting that these incursions and rituals of different kinds grow the seeds of implementation of the scheme of partition and conversion , and indicated that these calls to "visit the Temple Mount," are in fact crystal-clear terms to raise the frequency and diversity of incursions
