This Is A Paraphrase

Roger Cohen wrote:

The lesson is clear: Jews, with their history, cannot become the systematic oppressors of another people. They must be vociferous in their insistence that continued colonization of Palestinians in the West Bank will increase Israel’s isolation and ultimately its vulnerability.

Actually, if Cohen were smart enough and not as leftist as he is, oh, and British too, that should be paraphrased and written thus:

Jews, with their history, cannot permit themselves to become the victims of oppressors who deny Jewish nationalism, deny any right Jews have to any portion of their national home - and this, despite offers of territorial compromise and actually surrendering of territory over the past century - a people that have no genuine distinct national characteristics but belong to a nation that came out of the Arabian peninsula in the 7th century and conquered and then occupied the Jewish homeland. They must be vociferous in their insistence that continued colonization by Palestinians in the territory of the Jewish homeland will increase their isolation and ultimately their vulnerability, to the extent that they might find themselves on the other side of the Jordan River or in another scenario, all the Arabs of the stat of Israel will be moved to whatever "Palestinain state" may arise, if it ever does.
