Can Peres Learn Something From Cyprus?

Received from the Communications Department, Office of the President of Israel: -

President Shimon Peres to Host President of Cyprus for a Reception, Working Meeting and State Dinner on Monday, 14 March 2011

President Shimon Peres will host the President of Cyprus, Mr. Demetris Christofias for a reception and working meeting on Monday, 14 March at 09:00 at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem. The two will discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the countries. At the conclusion of the meeting each of the leaders will make a statement to the media and will sign cooperation agreements.

President Shimon Peres will host a State Dinner for the President of Cyprus with the participation of the foreign ministers, and people from Israel and Cyprus working in the fields of business, culture and technology between the two countries. At the beginning of the dinner both Presidents are expected to offer public greetings.

That's nice but there's more that Peres can do and that's learn about Cyprus as it deals with - or is dealt with - a very similar situation which includes a Green Line, and refugees, and occupation, even terror.

By all means. There is a lot to learn from Cyprus.

For example, they wanted to be reunited for 30 years, and then, when the occasion arose, they refused reunification (because they did not want the turkish part to become a EU member...)
