And Helen Thomas You Heard?

With friends like these:-

After being asked for her opinion of Israel, Thomas responded by saying: "Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine."

Turning her attention to the Palestinians, she said, "Remember, these people are occupied. And it's their land," adding the Jews should "go home" to Poland and Germany.

Really:-

But, aw gee, she 'apologized', sort of:-

Thomas posted a lukewarm apology on her personal Web site.

"I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heartfelt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon," she wrote.

But then this:-

...the reporter Helen Thomas told President Obama his response to the attack on the flotilla was “pitiful,” reports The Seminal. She added “What do you mean you regret something that should be so strongly condemned, and if any other nation in the world had done it, we would have been up in arms?”

the comment is particularly sadistic with its invocation of poland and germany first and above all. the mealy-mouthed apology with its pro-forma invocation of

peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.

gives us the basic rap of the demopath. when will we learn to call them on this stuff?

i especially like the "if any other country in the world had done this we'd have been up in arms." what did she say about the silence of the WH about the killing of demonstrators in iran?

what should be highlighted is that if the Jews went back to Germany and Poland they'd be subject to the antisemitism of Helen Thomas & Friends in any case.
