In Sheikh Jarrah there has been a recent escalation in settler violence. In addition to vandalism, threatening, stone throwing and beating, during the last week settlers have pointed weapons towards the Palestinians.
We know that Israeli presence in the neighborhood deters the settlers from extreme violent behavior.
Visits (even short ones) during the day as well as presence at night are essential in securing the Palestinians safety.

Just in case you don't get the point, actually, there has been an escalation in Arab violence for which these demos are providing cover and encouragement.

I am not saying I don't agree with you, but this post fails at proving your point, in fact it serves against it. Beatings and stone throwing against name calling? Name calling should not even be an issue in a free society...
a) you assume that the reports of beatings of Arabs by Jews are all correct. I suggest they are not;
b) true, name-calling in a democratic society should be at the bottom of the criminal code totem pole. However, in Arab society, incitement is just one small step from actual violence, for the past almost 90 years.
c) the Leftists, Internationalists, etc., are all engaged in stirring up trouble. It has happened in Hebron, on the Temple Mount and God forbid we should hear of some young mother stabbed or her child hit by a rock.
