From her statement:

My decision not to attend the Genesis Prize ceremony has been mischaracterized by others. Let me speak for myself. I chose not to attend because...the mistreatment of those suffering from today’s atrocities is simply not in line with my Jewish values. Because I care about Israel, I must stand up against violence, corruption, inequality, and abuse of power.

P.S.  Atrocity is an extremely cruel, violent, or shocking acta shockingly bad or atrocious act, object, or situation and, most relevant, (usually pl) acts of extreme cruelty, esp against prisoners or civilians in wartime.

Scary

Last week, a sign showing a guillotine was held aloft at the anti-"Netanyahu-is-Corrupt" demos:

Now we have Eran Volkowsly's caricature today in Haaretz, with left-wing humor:

A double-bladed battle axe.

And, by the way, Persians and Mamelukes used them and they were termed tabarzin.

The text reads:

This will scare them

What scares me is either the obliviousness of Israel's leftists - and that includes most of the media which provided protective cover for that guillotine by pooh-poohing the whole incident (in democracies we change leader wither through the ballot or a judicial process) - to the seriousness of introducing bloody violence into the public discourse, something they always blame the right-wing for doing or, the possible encouragement Volkowsky lends to even worse characterizations.

Netanyahu was displayed with a noose last year.  That was "art".

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked was drawn naked.  Art.

It keeps getting worse.  And the Left demands morality and ethics in public life.

And they are hypocritical as when President Rivlin was portrayed in a keffiyeh because that's as we all "know", is incitement to murder.

Sure, for Volkowsky and his editor, it's "funny".  Funny as only the Left defines humor.

That's scary.  Really.

The "Ad Kan" Satire Show Does Haredim

The Kan network here in Israel, a state-sponsored and publicly funded broadcaster, airs, but of course, a satirical show called "Ad Kan!" (This Far and No Further").  It stars  Michael Hanegbi and as reported a while back:

In addition to its regular news programming, Kan has a variety of new shows coming to the air...The satirical show The Jews are Coming will migrate from IBA to air on Mondays at 10 p.m.

On Thursdays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. viewers can tune into Ad Kan! (Up to Here), a satirical current events show in which six panelists – three who consider themselves left-wing and three right-wing – argue about topics of the day.

It airs actually now on Tuesday evenings.

Last night they had a monologue which, in part touched on the very annoying Peleg group demonstrations.  But this allowed a swipe at all Haredim, as the Ultra-Orthodox are called.

Screen shots:

On one thing we can all agree: the Haredim are turds.

The Haredim are not kakot (turds)

They are simply different and took themselves out of a democratic society

and formed for themselves a society that contributes just to and for itself

Okay, they're a bit shitty but that's okay

but one thing we're all in agreement on is that the Haredim are turds.

You laughing?

Will Da'esh Be Going To The Oscars?

Posted:
Wednesday, July 7, 2015 - 10:00

CAMPAIGN REGULATIONS UPDATED FOR NEW AWARDS SEASON

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Board of Governors has approved new Oscars rules and campaign regulations for the 88th Academy Awards at their most recent Board meeting (Tuesday night, 6/30). However, final determination of the qualifying nominees for each nominated picture will be made by the Academy’s Producers Branch Executive Committee.
The Academy has announcd that after extensive deliberations, including all of its 6000 members, films produced by Da'esh/IS/ISIL will be included as eligible films that will be initially shortlisted for further consideration in regular cateories and not only as foreign films.
Other amendments to the rules include standard date changes and other “housekeeping” adjustments.
Rules are reviewed annually by individual branch and category committees.  The Awards Rules Committee then reviews all proposed changes before presenting its recommendations to the Board of Governors for approval.
Updated campaign regulations, which specify how companies and individuals may market to Academy members any movies and achievements eligible for the 88th Academy Awards, are also presented to the Board for approval.
The 88th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.  The Oscars also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
“It’s gratifying to acknowledge the extraordinary range of talent displayed in Iraq, Syria and Libya by these quite imaginative artists in our industry,” said Academy President Sheryl Bone Isaacs.  “This year, our branches have recognized a more diverse and inclusive list of filmmakers and artists than ever before, and we look forward to adding their creativity, ideas and experience to our organization.”
Ms. Isaacs continued, saying "We seek to bring closer these foreign filmakers and cinema professionals with the hope that the common language of artistry will bridge cultural gaps. To accomplish this, we are opening these following categories to nominations of entries from Da'esh."
It is expected that the following catgories, initially, will be open to various Da'esh cinematographers for thir submissions:

BEST PICTURE
CINEMATOGRAPHY
COSTUME DESIGN
DIRECTING
FILM EDITING
MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING
SOUND EDITING
SOUND MIXING
VISUAL EFFECTS
DOCUMENTARY (SHORT SUBJECT)
DOCUMENTARY (FEATURE)
SHORT FILM (LIVE ACTION)

Can't Gaza Tunnelling Work Both Ways?

I wonder if some cynical satirist is thinking that tunnels in Gaza can work both ways and he came up with a new plan:

and then, rehabilitation begins:

P.S.

If Hamas or their supporters refer to this as an official Israeli government initiative, as usual, they lie.

(Almost) Breaking News: Kerry Demands Ceasefire

United States Secretary of State John Kerry, our correspondent has been informed, is demanding an immediate ceasefire and requesting that Haaretz stop all scathing reports about his failed diplomacy as well as his clumsy negotiations style.

Additional sources claim that he is even asking Israel's Minister of Defense, Moshe ('Kerry is obsessive and messianic') Yaalon, to faciliate this.

According to the Haaretz report written by Barak Ravid, who writes in a scathing toneKerry’s was an “embarrassing” performance and apparently displayed dishonesty in the negotiations.

Some quotes:

The draft Kerry passed to Israel on Friday shocked the cabinet ministers not only because it was the opposite of what Kerry told them less than 24 hours earlier, but mostly because it might as well have been penned by Khaled Meshal. It was everything Hamas could have hoped for.

The document...demanded no dismantling of rockets, tunnels or other heavy weaponry at Hamas’ disposal. The document placed Israel and Hamas on the same level, as if the first is not a primary U.S. ally and as if the second isn’t a terror group which overtook part of the Palestinian Authority in a military coup and fired thousands of rockets at Israel.

The secretary of state’s draft empowered the most radical and problematic elements in the region – Qatar, Turkey, and Hamas – and was a slap on the face to the rapidly forming camp of Egypt, Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, who have many shared interests. What Kerry’s draft spells for the internal Palestinian political arena is even direr: It crowns Hamas and issues Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas with a death warrant.

Kerry['s]...conduct in recent days over the Gaza cease-fire raises serious doubts over his judgment and perception of regional events. It’s as if he isn’t the foreign minister of the world’s most powerful nation, but an alien, who just disembarked his spaceship in the Mideast. For a few moments Friday, one could not avoid recalling the things Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said about Kerry, and admit that despite the fact that it wasn’t appropriate, he may have had a point.

If Kerry did anything on Friday it was to thwart the possibility of reaching a cease-fire in Gaza. Instead of promoting a cease-fire, Kerry pushed it away. If this failed diplomatic attempt leads Israel to escalate its operation in Gaza, the American secretary of state will be one of those responsible for every additional drop of blood that is spilled.

As this blog post goes to press, it has been learned that Kerry is so depressed that he has called up a senior Hamas commander asking if he would be accepted as a member of the training suicide bombers.

The Temple As Political Satire

The Eretz Nehedert satire program decided the best way to knock the Right was to have the Temple as a back drop and Ayelet Shaked draped over the Ark of the Covenant with Miri Regev, Tzipi Hotovely, Moshe Feiglin and others gathered around.

'Yair Lapid', asked by Bibi if he didn't mind the Temple service, said, "sure, why not have a barbeque".

Screen snaps:

Of course, there's nothing wrong with the Temple becoming a central element in  the public discourse.

Post-Chronological: The New PC

The new Latma clip (in Hebrew, at the 2:48 minute mark) contains an interview with an Islamic "scholar" who explains that the claim that the anti-Muhammed video was the reason for all the Islamic/Muslim violence for the past dozen centuries.

Asked how could this be since the violence preceded the video, she explains:

"Today, it is the post-chronological approach which is acceptable.  It doesn't what what came first"

The new "PC".

Nakba Victim of Satirical Poster

That's a picture of Abd Khader El-Husseini, Jerusalem area 1948 commander of local Arab irregular forces engaged in killing, murdering, raping and robbing Jews, killed at the Qastel.

The headline reads:

Happy Nakba Day!

and the sub-title is a play of the traditional Maimuna greeting but reads:

Flee and Poof! Get blown away!
