"Settler Racism"

This is a photograph taken yesterday, Sunday, October 13, 2018.

The event is the awarding of a certificate of merit and appreciation by Avi Roeh, Council Chairman, to sports enthusiasts, residents of communities in the Binyamin Region, who competed and won international and national championships in various categories.

Among the youngsters are members of the Gordon Family of Shiloh.

I think you can take note that the faces indicate a total lack of "racism" that excludes persons of different countries, physiological characteristics, skin color, etc.

There is no "settler racism".

There is Israeli pride.

The Anti-Racist Campaign

Israel's Ministry of Justice is airing, through television commercials, an anti-racism campaign.

You can view the video clips here.

They play an off-tune version of the national anthem, HaTikvah, and the line "our hope has not yet been lost" appears:-

I wonder what they'd say if someone complained to the special telephone number (1-700-70-60-44)* that, on the basis of race, Jews are banned from fundamental civil liberties and rights guaranteed by law if they attempt to worship at the Temple Mount?

Racism Sublime or Retro Anti-Zionism

Here is the lead-in to Amy Teibel's AP reporting, headlined:

Devout Israeli Jews moving to Arab-Jewish cities

ACRE, Israel (AP) — Orthodox Jewish Israelis, the driving force of the West Bank settlement movement, have begun to turn their attention inward to Israel itself, moving into Arab areas of mixed cities in an attempt to cement the Jewish presence there.

Before dealing with a charge of racism, think about this:

When modern Zionism began in earnest, in the mid-1800s, there were only four cities in which Jews lived (of course, in previous centuries, there were more Jewish communities and neighborhoods, but that's for another post). They were Arab. So, based on what the thrust of this article is implying, its subliminal message, is that 'here we go again, those Jews are moving into Arab land'.

Some more details:

Activists say that in recent years, several thousand devout Jews have pushed into rundown Arab areas of Jaffa, Lod, Ramle and Acre, hardscrabble cities divided between Jewish and Arab neighborhoods. Their arrival has threatened to disrupt fragile ethnic relations with construction of religious seminaries and housing developments marketed exclusively to Jews.

And the racism:

"Israel has to act as the state of its citizens," said Mohammad Darawshe, co-executive director of The Abraham Fund Initiatives, a nonprofit group that promotes co-existence between Jews and Arabs in Israel. "Ethnic preference is clearly inappropriate, violating the principles of democracy."

About 20 percent of Israel's citizens are Arabs. Most live in Arab towns and villages, with some notable exceptions, especially Haifa, the port city that is Israel's third-largest.

Am I, and you, to understand that Jews shouldn't move into Arab areas?

And can Jews prevent Arabs from moving into Jewish areas?

What is going on?

There's Arab Racism? Really?

Here:-

...There is something deeply sinister about Dubai luxury...People, nationalities and jobs exist in silos, isolated from each other. You can be in Dubai for days and not interact with a local.  It seems to me a place where the worst of western capitalism and the worst of Gulf Arab racism meet in a horrible vortex. The most pervasive feeling is of a lack of compassion, where the commoditisation of everything and the disdain for certain nationalities thickens the skin to the tragic plight of fellow human beings.

...Dubai's name is becoming stained by the blood of migrant workers.

Let's repeat that:

Dubai seems to be a place where the worst of western capitalism and Gulf Arab racism meet in a horrible vortex

Remember That Facebook Scandal?

Well, there were a few.

The female soldier. Here.

Some male soldiers. Here.

Well, there's another embarassing story:

Placenta Photo Gets Nursing Students Expelled

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Four students who posed for photos with a human placenta have been kicked out of a suburban Kansas City nursing program after one of the pictures was posted on Facebook.

One of the students, Doyle Byrnes, has filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Kansas seeking to force Johnson County Community College to reinstate her before classes resume Jan. 19.

The Kansas City Star reported that Byrnes and several other students were attending a lab course at Olathe Medical Center in November when one of them asked a nursing instructor for permission to photograph the placenta so they could share the experience on Facebook.

The lawsuit against the college and several of its employees said that the nursing instructor responded, "Oh, you girls," but didn't tell them not to do it or that it could result in discipline.  Afterward, Byrnes posted a photo on the social networking site showing her smiling broadly, wearing a lab coat and surgical gloves and leaning over the placenta in a tray. Nothing in the photos identified the woman from whom the placenta came.

So, is it Israeli racism or just being silly that results in embarassing pictures appearing on Facebook?

We All Were Raped - By Gideon Levy, Andrew Sullivan, Et. Al

You will recall the case of an Arab who claimed he was racially discriminated against, having being found guilty of rape by deception in that he pretended to be a Jew to be able to have sex with a Jewish woman on a chance date. Here was my take then.

Well, this blog of Victor has the real story and an attack on media bias.

Here are some details from JTA:-

A Palestinian man accused of rape by deception for posing as a Jew forcibly raped the victim, according to her testimony. Portions of the woman's testimony against Saber Kushour were published Sept. 3 in Ha'Ir, a weekly magazine of the Israeli daily Haaretz distributed only in Tel Aviv.

...the court accepted the plea bargain on a charge of rape by deception in place of rape without consent because of the victim's past and her confused and contradictory testimony.

According to her testimony, published in the article, Kashour invited her to see the building where he said he worked, and then brutally raped her on the top floor of the building, leaving her naked and bleeding. She said the sex was not consensual, as Kashour claims.

According to her testimony, published in Ha'Ir, the victim said, “He said he wanted to invite me for coffee and show me his workplace there." The reason she gave for agreeing to leave with a stranger was “I looked for someone to put my trust in."
She went on to say, "...I really trusted him.”

The woman reportedly was raped repeatedly by her father from the age of 6 and forced into prostitution by him. At the time of the rape she was staying in a women's shelter, according to the article. She was hospitalized after the rape in a government-run psychiatric hospital in a ward for women who were sexually abused.

Full details here.

Will Victor get his apologies?

P.S.

Here is something I missed at the time:

Rape 'by Deception' May Become A Crime In Massachusetts

Massachusetts legislators considered a bill Wednesday that would close a loophole in rape laws to allow prosecutors to bring charges against people who gain a victim's consent to sex through deception.

Under current law, rape in Massachusetts can only be prosecuted if the act involves force and non-consent. The law does not protect victims who have been intentionally duped into having sex without force or violence.

"There is a myth that rape only happens in a dark alley by a stranger -- this is not true," said Rep. Peter Koutoujian.

Without the new legislation, police and prosecutors are virtually helpless when someone reports a rape that occurred because the victim was deceived or tricked into consenting. Legislators cited a case in western Massachusetts in which a woman consented to intercourse with her boyfriend's brother because he claimed to be the woman's boyfriend.

Israel isn't in bad company with its legal system.

Racists Don't Know They Are Racists

Edward Luttwak has a lovely letter in the TLS:

In reviewing Patrick Tyler’s A World of Trouble: America in the Middle East, Oliver Miles (May 29) uses quite a lot of his text to identify a number of American officials as Jewish, from the 1920s to Kissinger and right down to Barack Obama’s recent appointees...Miles does the same for Tony Blair’s former envoy to the Middle East, Lord Levy.

Like some especially crass Arabs, Miles clearly implies that no Jew should have any role in shaping or executing US or British Middle East policy, thereby blandly imputing disloyalty to any Jewish official, regardless of his record or expressed opinions. That is exactly racist.

He also writes that the “Arab mother” of President Obama’s special envoy, George Mitchell, could turn out to be his “Achilles heel”. But few people would be foolish enough to emulate Miles by referring to his mother in order to attack Mitchell – it would only disqualify the attacker.

Oh, So Someone Doesn't Like Opera

Edalat Square is an opera based on the true story of two gays teens who were hung in Iran in 2005 for homosexuality.

The Opera Vista Festival at UH is featuring the piece this year, and organizers say they expected some controversy. It's arrived, in the form of a death threat.

Amy Hopper, founding director of the Nova Arts Project (also involved in producing the festival), says she received a note in her mailbox saying this: "You are pigs to mix Islam with gays. You must stop! We will not let you do it."

One Is Racist and The Other Is...?

You might recall this caricature published in the New York Post back in February:

As detailed, the cartoon, by Sean Delonas, was partially inspired by an actual chimpanzee attack which occurred at the same time as the signing of the Obama stimulus bill and was considered to possess racial undertones.

The Post editor-in-chief Col Allan claimed the cartoon was a parody of a current news event but Al Sharpton's response was that "it is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys... Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?"

Now, why did I mention that?

This caricature:

(I scanned it as the connection wasn't working. Could Haaretz have disconnected it?)

How would you categorize a caricature that portrays Avigdor Liberman, Israel's Foreign Minister, as a dog on a leash?

If it was publish in an Arab newspaper, in a Neo-Nazi newspaper, we would probably hear of protests but it's in the Haaretz newspaper.

It's kosher, shamefully so.

Barry Obama

Remember BO's speech on racism and inter alia blaming his grandmother?

Ann Coulter takes him on and does a great text analysis interpretation:-

Meanwhile, let's revisit the story about Obama's grandmother being guilty of thinking like a "typical white person." As recounted in Obama's autobiography, the only evidence that his grandmother feared black men comes from Obama's good-for-nothing, chronically unemployed white grandfather, who accuses Grandma of racism as his third excuse not to get dressed and drive her to work.

His grandmother wanted a ride to work at 6:30 in the morning because, the day before, she had been aggressively solicited by a homeless man at the bus stop. On her account, the panhandler "was very aggressive, Barry. Very aggressive. I gave him a dollar and he kept asking. If the bus hadn't come, I think he might have hit me over the head."

Even Obama's shiftless grandfather didn't play the race card until pretty far into the argument over whether he would drive Grandma to work. First, the good-for-nothing grandfather told Obama that Grandma was just trying to guilt him into driving her, saying, "(S)he just wants me to feel bad."

Next, he complained about his non-work routine being disrupted, saying: "She's been catching the bus ever since she started at the bank. ... And now, just because she gets pestered a little, she wants to change everything!"

Only after Obama had offered to drive his grandmother to work himself and it was becoming increasingly clear what a selfish lout the grandfather was, did Grandpa produce his trump card. The reason he wouldn't get his lazy butt dressed and drive Grandma to work was ... she was a racist!

As Obama recounts it, on Grandpa's third try at an excuse, he told Obama: "You know why she's so scared this time? I'll tell you why. Before you came in, she told me the fella was black. That's the real reason she's bothered. And I just don't think that's right." So I guess I'll be heading back to the sack now!

That makes sense. It certainly never bothers me when crazy white people harass and threaten me.

This is Obama's own account of what happened, which -- as anyone can see -- consisted of his slacker grandfather making a series of excuses to avoid having to drive the sole bread-earner in the family to work.

But Obama says, "The words were like a fist in my stomach, and I wobbled to regain my composure." (It was as if he had been punched by an aggressive panhandler at a bus stop!) And not because his grandfather's sorry excuse reminded him that he came from a long line of callow, worthless men, both black and white.

No, Obama swallowed his grandfather's pathetic excuse hook, line and sinker, leading Obama to a reverie about his grandparents: "I knew that men who might easily have been my brothers could still inspire their rawest fears." That's true -- assuming his brothers and sisters were menacing people at bus stops.

How deranged would you have to be to cite this incident as evidence that your grandmother thought like a "typical white person" -- as opposed to your grandfather being worthless and lazy? For those keeping score, Obama is aghast at his grandmother's alleged racism, but had no problem with Jeremiah Wright's manifest racism.

Which Sign Is Real?

AtlasShrugs has sass. She borrowed this from Gateway Blue and I am borrowing it from them.

Which is the real sign?

And which sign would be labelled as racist and which isn't?
