That was the bier of a lawyer, Amjad al-Safadi, who, it is claimed, committed suicide in his home five days after being released from prison.
Haaretz reports he was an East Jerusalem lawyer
recently indicted on charges of contact with a foreign agent and providing services to an illegal organization...[and] indicted for allegedly carrying messages between prisoners and Hamas activists on the outside...Safadi had been in custody for a few weeks and was released five days ago to house arrest. During his incarceration his family said he was suffering from depression.
In death, with more rights than a Jew (not that we would wish to have funerals up there).
