George Giacaman teaches at Bir Zeit University and he has an article in Lebanon's Daily Star, entitled: The end for the Palestinian Authority?
Excerpts from his thinking:
As usual, the future Israeli government will be a coalition...this does not bode well for the Palestinian Authority (PA), which is entering the third stage of its turbulent life, and perhaps its last.
The first stage began with the Gaza-Jericho agreement of 1994...The second stage ushered in Mahmoud Abbas, with his election as president of the PA in January 2005...
...The PA knows it cannot pin any hopes on the new Israeli coalition government.
In a year or possibly two, much will be clear. If there is no credible progress leading to the two-state solution as Palestinians and Arabs understand it; if the expansion of settlements is not stopped, making a two-state solution nearly impossible, then the PA will be doomed...There is no reason to expect anything different from the forthcoming Israeli government, whoever forms it and participates in it.
If the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is allowed to remain inside the dark tunnel of internecine Israeli politics, it will never emerge without outside pressure and no solution will be possible. Palestinians will have no choice other than to pursue resistance, and the PA will face its final demise in this last stage of its career....

Nothing new! That has been Israel's strategy for many years now. It's fine, only take off the mask of a victim and stop whining about how much you want peace and Palestinians reject your offers.
Gali,
do you write all these comments all by yourself?
LOL
Seriously, Galia makes a good point, even if it's not the one she intended.
The government of Israel needs to stop thinking of the arabs in Gaza and the West Bank and simply think of it's own citizens and the survival of Judaism.
Accept that the world will always consider us bringers of genocide and land grabbers and do exactly what the world says we do but never have to date:: Expell all muslims from Israel proper, from Gaza, from the west bank and let the chips fall where they may. I suppose Israel can be munificent just as the jihadis are and allow any mulsims who wish to convert to Judaism to do so. But that female circumcission stuff is straight out ;>)
The only thing that will change after such an action is that Israel will be secure within its own defensible borders. The handwringers of Europe are paper tigers, Russa is a cabal of diseased thugs, and Obama is an ineffectual do-gooder.
While we are at it, we might as well bomb the crap out of the Iranian nuclear sites and kill all the expat terrorist leaders in arab capitols at the same time.
Since the world already hates Jews, at least they will soil their pants when contemplating the next "Final Solution".
The only problem if you do it, you will lose the support of US and probably the rest of the world. And what can israel do without US :)?
In March 1948, we lost US support when Marshall went for Trusteeship but we got it back
Smiles at YMedad ;)
Does Israel really care anymore ? It's are just a "shitty little country" with nukes (too bad about that, lol)
Really, Galia, Israel doesn't have the world's support as it is now, and it manages somehow.
Then just go for it! Go for your own destruction!
