Laura Eve Mazur, a daughter of Sharon and Edward Mazur of Great Neck, N.Y., was married Saturday night to Philip Robert Kanfer, a son of Susan and Stephen Kanfer, also of Great Neck. Rabbi Dale Polakoff performed the ceremony at Temple Beth El in Cedarhurst, N.Y.
Mrs. Kanfer, 26, is an account supervisor in the Manhattan office of Dentsu, a Japanese advertising agency. She graduated from Syracuse University. Her father is an owner of Mazurs Marketplace and Restaurant in Little Neck, Queens.
Mr. Kanfer, 28, is a stock trader for the Galleon Group, a hedge fund in Manhattan. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin. His mother retired as a fifth-grade teacher at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Great Neck. His father is an assistant principal at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn.
My wife and I have eaten at the Mazurs restaurant many times and always a delight to eat what we can call heimische food.
P.S.
Heimische in this instance means good food prepared the way your grandparents liked it which translates satisfying but not quite gourmet.

I don't know the family, but I've shopped at the Mazur's strictly kosher supermarket and eaten in their restaurant many times with my parents and other family members.
It's one of those great places to shop for kosher food, just off the LIE at Little Neck. Their frozen homemade soup is so good that it really doesn't pay to cook your own.
