"Disproving", Well, Everything Jewish

Historian and researcher Issam Sakhnin (1938-2019) has had a third edition of his book, “Jerusalem: Hijacked History and Forged Antiquities” published by Al-A’idoun Publishing and Distribution House in Amman. His biography includes that Sakhnini contributed to the establishing of the “Palestinian Research Center” in Beirut in 1965, and served as Deputy Director General of the Center between 1971 and 1978.

The biography relates he "sought to collect documents related to the Arab-Zionist conflict, prepare field studies and research on the Palestinian issue, and spread knowledge of the Israeli enemy in Palestinian and Arab circles.

One of his books, “The Holy Crime: Genocide from the Ideology of the Hebrew Book to the Zionist Project” (2012), presents a reading of the Zionist project, based on an analysis of its genocidal structure, whether in its origins, purpose, process, or outcomes. The Zionist project is a colonial/settler project based on the doctrine of genocide. Moreover, "the roots of the Jewish faith [are] represented by the blood-soaked God Yahweh, who commands his disciples to shed blood and annihilate other humans and animals as well. He also addresses the Zionist genocide discourse, which borrows the provisions of Jewish law to justify the genocide that it committed, and continues to commit, against the Palestinian Arabs. Ethnic cleansing is an essential feature of the Zionist discourse".

In “Jerusalem has a hijacked history and forged antiquities” Al-Sakhnini "refutes Zionism’s claims". The book, which was published as part of the publications of the Royal Commission for Jerusalem Affairs, Dr. Sakhnin "reveals the distortions, falsifications, and falsifications that befell the history of Jerusalem, beginning with the stories of the Hebrew Bible and continuing with the myths founding the foundation of contemporary Zionist thought."

The book came in four chapters. The first discussed the falsification of the history of Palestine in general, in order to understand the dimensions of the falsification of the history of Jerusalem and the sources and references of this falsification. The second chapter was devoted to researching the myths and legends from which the forged history of Jerusalem was derived and the facts that archeology has revealed that contradict it. These are basically myths. In the third chapter, Sakhnini discussed the issue of the “Temple” as it is in the riddles and riddles that were invented and whose futility modern research shows, and in the fourth chapter he discussed the processes of forging antiquities with the intention of proving the authenticity of stories about the city’s history.

Secretary-General of the Royal Commission for Jerusalem Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Kanaan, wrote an introduction to the book in which he says, “The book by history professor Dr. Issam Sakhnin is a “true scientific and historical treasure.” It embodies the saying, “From your mouth I condemn you.” In this book, Sakhnin refutes the claims of Zionism that aim to Complete control over all aspects of community life in the Holy City and its Islamic sanctities.”

Kanaan continued, “Sakhnini, in this book, exposes and exposes all the Zionist plans and Israel’s policy that aims to Judaize the city of Jerusalem with the aim of imposing “new facts and data,” enabling it to perpetuate its occupation of Jerusalem and perpetuate its usurpation so that it remains a unified and eternal capital of Zionism, in contravention of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions. The connection to the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem.

He points out that the issue of Jerusalem, in its past, present and future history, was the focus of attention of the Arab and Islamic nations in particular, and of all those who love peace in the world in general. It was self-evident that the Royal Commission for Jerusalem Affairs would work to direct those with pens, bright minds, and scientific and research abilities and capabilities, towards studying Sources that serve the cause of Jerusalem, and keep it alive in the Arab and Islamic mind and conscience, generation after generation, until it returns to its Arab people, the legitimate owners of the right, as it has always been throughout history.

Kanaan believes that Jerusalem has continued to occupy a prominent place in the mind and conscience of the Arab and Islamic worlds. It was and still is the focus of interest of researchers and historians who have dealt with it through monitoring, research and analysis in all its historical, anthropological, demographic and spiritual dimensions, relying in this on the most important books, references and the results of Arab and foreign archaeological investigations, ancient and modern. .

Dr. Sakhnini, in the introduction to the book, emphasizes that the intention of this book is not to present an ancient history of the city of Jerusalem, as the breadth of this chronological history, with its unparalleled rich diversity, cannot be comprehended in such a book, which is limited in size. Rather, “what we aimed for from this book was to reveal the distortions, falsifications, and falsifications that occurred in the history of Jerusalem, which began with the stories of the Hebrew Bible, and continued with the myths founding the foundations of contemporary Zionist thought.

In this context, a replacement occupation invasion took place on this history, with its temporal and spatial memories, and all the facts witnessed in the city’s past were excluded from it if they contradicted the narratives of those stories and legends, or were forcibly silenced, or were falsified and terribly deviated from their historical meanings.” .

Sakhnini confirms that the focus of the book is “forgery operations,” indicating that it may be in the form of an introduction to rewriting the history of ancient Jerusalem, getting rid of myths and legends, and relying exclusively on what modern sciences provide, especially the sciences of archeology and anthropology, of means by which Access to historical truth. Pointing out that he benefited from the data of archeology and the historical facts it reveals, but without delving into his techniques, in order to destroy all that mythical heritage in which he placed the ancient history of Jerusalem in its chains.

Sakhnini says, “No history has been subjected to falsification as the history of ancient Palestine in general and the history of Jerusalem in particular has been subjected to it,” indicating that “history in one of its meanings is the past, but the past here is not what has passed and gone with its ancient time, but rather it is an extended, untruncated past that flows.” In the present, he creates its content, features, and signs that indicate it, so that the past becomes the present, articulated on its feet and attached to all its aspects.

He points out that Zionism started from this understanding, and its concern was to own and monopolize the past, because whoever owns the past owns the present and the future as well. Palestine's past or ancient history is what is concerned here. That history, as is the objective, scientific view of it, which is consistent with the Arab view, is rich in its ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity, as the Canaanites, Edomites, and ancient Palestinians succeeded in its era.

Sakhnini believes that Zionism has stripped all of that rich past of its historicity, indicating that the history of ancient Palestine, which it wants to be its present and future as well, is the history formulated by “biblical” tales and legends that separated the history of ancient Palestine into stages that are exclusively the stages of the history of the children of Israel in it.

He says that Zionism sought to exclude the name Palestine from geographical-historical memory, and replaced it with the name “Land of Israel.” This was based on the premise that made the name have a political-ideological function whose goal was to show an alleged connection extending throughout history, linking the Jews to this place in their past, present, and future. More than that, this connection in the custom of Zionism, with its contents derived from Jewish theology, is a manifestation of a divine will that willed there to be a predestined relationship between four hypostases: “the God of Israel, the children of Israel, the land of Israel, and the history of the children of Israel.” .

Sakhnini concluded that no history has ever been subjected to the Jewish robberies that the ancient history of Palestine was subjected to, and thus Zionism actively sought to silence it, considering that a necessary condition for owning it, and thus owning the present and the future, and for monopolizing the land that is the geographical framework of that history. In these robberies, Zionism reaped a valuable spoil by granting it a right to present Palestine, based on an alleged history, and in recognition of its possession of the place on which a state was created.

'Rebuilding Solomon's Temple' in an Appeal to Bahrain's Ruler

In this file is a translation of an appeal made to the ruler of Bahrain during the 1936-1939 'Disturbances', the reign of terror initated by the Mufti Amin Al-Husseini against Jews in the Palestine Mandate territory.

And I have underlined a claim that sounds as if it was written yeterday, not yesteryear. It is what we know as the "Al-Aqsa Is In Danger" slogan.

"The dream of the establishment of Solomon's Temple; Jewish ceremonies instead of Mohammedan prayers performed in the surrounding [the Western Wall - YM] which have been blessed by God [in that Al-Buraq, Muhammed's mystical steed was tethered there, supposedly - YM] of the Mosque of Aqsa..."

Don't Be Their Fool

Arabs deny the Temple(s) even existed.

There is no archaeological proof they claim.

It is the "alleged" Temple and is fabricated.

Jewish history in the city of Jerusalem is denied.

Odd.

Is there any proof a winged horse, al-Buraq, was tethered to the Western Wall? And we'll ignore what was that wall.

Is there any proof that Abraham, sorry, Ibrahim, built the first mosque?

Any proof Muhammed was in Jerusalem, in reality or in a vision?

Who are they trying to fool?

Don't be their fool.

The PA Proposes, the UN Disposes and to Israel No Roses

Those you are veteran readers of my blog know that this

Palestinian proposal to UNESCO: Western Wall is part of al-Aqsa  A new proposal to establish that the Western Wall is part of al-Aqsa Mosque is set to be submitted by the Palestinians to a vote at UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) next week, Ynet learned Thursday. The proposal states among other things that the Western Wall is part of al-Aqsa Mosque...Yedioth Ahronoth received a copy of the proposal, which reveals the main points:1. To declare and confirm that the Western Wall is part of al-Aqsa Mosque, and is called Buraq Plaza (as the Palestinians call the Western Wall). The same applies to the Mughrabi Gate...

is old news.

How old?

Well, in the British White Paper of November 1928, the Mandate Authority basically created or recreated the status quo we're all talking about in a primitive version and while one pro-Arab MP tried to have it that

the Wailing Wall is legally the absolute property of the Moslem community, with the strip of pavement facing it; that the placing there of tables, chairs, screens, etc., is against the status quo;

the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies William Lunn, however, declared in parliament that

a memorandum relating to the Western or Wailing Wall in Jerusalem was presented to Parliament in November last as a White Paper (Cmd. 3229)...These regulations were promulgated, with the Secretary of State's approval, as a matter of urgency with a view to the preservation of good order and docorum. As the High Commissioner has announced locally, the regulations are of a temporary and provisional character. They do not purport to define the existing rights of either Moslems or Jews, nor do they prejudice the rights and claims either of Jews or of Moslems

However, things got a bit out of hand and following the murderous riots of August 1929 and the agitation of the Mufti, the Mandate appointed an International Commission of Inquiry and its report of December 1930 was inimical with its unjust restrictions on Jews by the Western Wall in addition to awarding to the Muslim Waqf the ownership of the Wall and the small courtyard which served as the worship site.

And let us not forget the December 1931 Islamic World Conference of the Mufti:

I pointed out a decade ago that Israeli officialdom either were ignorant of this element although Arafat was proclaiming it from the rooftops or preferred to ignore it as if it would go away.

Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi, former Chief Justice of PA Religious Court:
"...the Jews have no right to it. No party, no matter how much power and international support it has, can change this established fact by giving the Jews any right to it, or the right to pray in any part of it. The Al-Aqsa Mosque includes all its courtyards, foundations, skies, gates, domes, walls, and specifically, its western wall (Al-Buraq Wall), [parentheses in source], which is, after all, a part of it...It is with great pride that we remember the attitude of President-Martyr Yasser Arafat, of blessed memory... who refused to give the Jews any right to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque."
[Al-Hayyat Al-Jadida, Feb. 17, 2014]

As made clear here:

the denial of Solomon’s Temple is expressed through the use of the word al-maz’um (alleged) with al-haykal (the Temple). The use of the word al-maz’um is a direct attempt to negate the Jewish claim to the Temple Mount. The main argument made by those who deny the existence of the Jewish Temple is that no proof of the Temple’s existence has ever been found. Palestinian officials have adopted this position.

This denial is an important element in local Arab crypto-nationalism:

Furthermore,

The Israeli government also contributed indirectly to the erosion of Israel’s rule over the Temple Mount. In October 1993, then-foreign minister Shimon Peres wrote to his Norwegian counterpart that Israel would not interfere with the activities of “all Palestinian institutions in East Jerusalem… and holy Muslim places.” Although Peres’ letter did not specify what it meant exactly by Muslim holy places, Arafat nonetheless later claimed that Israel had implicitly recognized the PA’s jurisdiction over the Temple Mount.

I only hope that the UN Delegation is adequately prepared, with all this documentation and more, to counter the PA move.

UPDATE

PM Netanyahu's Remarks at the Start of the Weekly Cabinet Meeting
(Transcript Communicated by the PM Media Advisor)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this morning (Sunday, 18 October 2015), made the following remarks at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting:

Israel cannot accept the French draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council. It doesn’t mention Palestinian incitement; it doesn’t mention Palestinian terrorism; and it calls for the internationalization of the Temple Mount.

Well, we've seen across the Middle East – in Palmyra, in Iraq, throughout Iraq and elsewhere how the militant Muslims blast each other's mosques to the sky. We've just seen it in a Jewish holy site, Joseph's Tomb. Only Israel, Israel alone, is the guarantor of the holy sites on the Temple Mount.

The reason the status quo has been violated is not because we changed it. We didn’t change anything. The orders of prayer, the visiting rights have not changed for the last 15 years. The only thing that's changed are Islamist hoodlums paid by the Islamist Movement in Israel and by Hamas, who are entering the mosque and try to put explosive [unclear]and from there emerge and attack Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount, and Christian visitors. That's the only change in the status quo.

Israel will protect the holy sites, will guard the status quo. Israel is not the problem on the Temple Mount. Israel is the solution.

Plot Plot

We have a new 'plot' about a plot of land:-

PA Warns against Jewish Bid to Annex al-Aqsa Mosque

Chairman of the Jerusalem Affairs Department in the PLO, Ahmed Qurei, warned on Wednesday of an Israeli plan to register Muslims’ holy al-Aqsa Mosque as an Israeli state property to be officially run by the so-called Tabu (land registration) office.  The Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage (AFEH) Foundation notified of Israeli intents to urge the future government to endorse the bid as a means to set the stage for establishing a Jewish synagogue over parts of the holy Mosque.

Queri considered these attempts as...but a reflection of the government’s policies.”

The move comes after the Yishai organization, led by the fanatic rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, failed to reap the authorities’ approval of a request to enlist al-Aqsa’s overall area as an Israeli state property. Queri said these attempts are aimed at “Judaizing” the Mosque and re-building the alleged Jewish Temple, which Jews say it was destroyed in the pre-Christ era. “This is the most serious [action taken by Israel] that jeopardizes the future of the holy city.”

The Foundation also warned of an Israeli tender to build a Jewish synagogue in the eastern part of the al-Aqsa compound, between the Marwani Masjid and Bab al-Rahma...

I think they should review the material I published here.  I had another site in mind, on the western portion of the Temple Mount precinct:-

Of course, this is a rehash of old claims.  If only they were true and progressing.

But the point is that if Muslims can demand prayer and property rights in a cathedral in Spain

Hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition to prevent Cordoba's famous cathedral becoming the property of the Catholic Church.  The building was originally a mosque before housing a cathedral in the fifteenth century.

and the parallel with the Temple Mount is most clear here:

Built on the site of a Visigothic church in the 8th century, the mosque was a focal point in Córdoba...When the Christians reconquered it in the 13th century, they built a cathedral in the centre of the mosque.  The site is now under the control of the diocese of Córdoba, which has begun referring to the site as the cathedral rather than the city council-approved name of the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, Andalusia’s minister for tourism Rafael Rodríguez told El País. “Hiding its past as a mosque is like calling the Alhambra the palace of Charles V – it’s absurd.”  Describing that attitude as fundamentalist, the United Left politician said the diocese appeared to be “prioritising religious beliefs over common sense and the natural history of the monument. It doesn’t seem either reasonable or acceptable to me.”

The Temple Mount is a plot of Jewish property, paid for by David (2 Samuel 24:18-25).  The more the Muslims engage in 'Temple Denial',* the more they will lose it all instead of sharing the site.

___________

*
José Juan Jiménez Güeto, the spokesman for the Mosque-Cathedral said the name was constantly evolving. “We have leaflets that say mosque-cathedral or the other way around. And some that just say cathedral. We’re not denying its history – it was a mosque and now its a cathedral. Nobody is going to deny this.”  He dismissed the regional government concerns, calling it an “artificial debate”. Visitor numbers are up nearly 10% so this year to nearly 1.5 million, with 2014 poised to be a record breaker. “The important thing is that people come from around the world and feel welcomed in this place.”

Sheikh Sabri Denies and Denounces

More Temple Denial found at this Arab-language site:

The head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, Sheikh Sabri, refused [to acknowledge] the recent characterization of the right to consider the al-Aqsa mosque holy 'public squares'.
He said, in a Friday sermon today, 'This means that these squares are located at the disposal of municipal occupation and under the terms of reference, saying' this is completely unacceptable. '
He stressed that the squares are an integral part of the Al Aqsa Mosque, said: ... includes the Dome of the Rock and the Marwani prayer room and all the old and the subsequent squares and terracing and Alloawin and Galleries and the ways and wells and the outer gates and walls, including the Wailing Wall '.

...he announced repeatedly in a clear, explicit and emphasizing fashion that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is for Muslims alone and will not be subject to any court, negotiation or any failure and for any negligence nor any waiver of corn dust from it.'
On the other hand, Sheikh Sabri on behalf of all Muslims in Jerusalem and the environs of Jerusalem and on behalf of Muslims denounced all done by the army of occupation these recent days such as the frequent incursions of the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the raising of the Israeli flag by the Rock mosque. He stressed that this aggressive behavior is a provocative actions affect the sanctity of Al Aqsa...

Islamic Prevarication and Temple Denial

Official Islamic Temple Denial (and identity theft):

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO)...affirmed its rejection of what the so-called religious authority of the Israeli occupation army in the occupied city of Al-Quds did when they published a photo of Al-Aqsa Mosque without the Dome of the Rock. This photo, ISESCO underlined, depicts the true intention of the Israeli occupation authorities to judaize the city and establish the alleged Temple in the so-called “Temple Mount” on “the ruins” [?} of Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially as a model of the Temple has been built in front of Al-Aqsa Mosque [??], and the calls of the Jewish rabbis to demolish the First Qibla and the Third Holy Mosque have increased [???]...Likewise, ISESCO called upon the international society and competent bodies to preserve the historically proven rights of Muslim and Christian Arabs in Al-Quds’ Islamic and Christian sanctities, which are considered a red line that cannot be crossed.

What are they referring to?

So, let's add incitement to prevarication and denial.

The Weak Foundations of Netanyahu's Temple Mount Attitude

Temple Mount report in Haaretz:-

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the Jerusalem municipality and the Public Security Ministry to delay the execution of a demolition order for the Mugrabi Bridge...Egypt's warnings that the move could lead the Tahrir Square protestors to focus their anger on Israel, prompted Netanyahu to delay the demolition...the Islamic Waqf – the religious authority which manages the Temple Mount – launched a public campaign against the demolition, arguing the demolition was part of an Israeli plot to damage the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

A similar campaign was started in Jordan, with the backing of the Ministry of Awqaf Islamic Affairs and Holy Places...Sources have indicated that Netanyahu's decision to delay the demolition was also prompted by Jordanian warnings that the move could incite riots in the Hashemite Kingdom.

This decision, in the first instance, saves Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitz:

Arutz Sheva has received a report that the city of Jerusalem is about to file charges against Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovich of the Western Wall and Holy Places in his capacity as chairman of the Western Wall Heritage Fund. The charges stem from the fund's failure to respond to a demand made a month ago by City Engineer Shlomo Eshkol to dismantle the wooden ramp from the Western Wall Plaza to the Rambam (Mughrabi) Gate to the Temple Mount and replace it...

Mr. Prime Minister,

the "time factor" never works to Israel's advantage.

The Waqf, local and Jordanian (which views itself, as a full partner in the administration of the Temple Mount stemming from the Jordan-Israel Peace Treaty: ARTICLE 9 - PLACES OF HISTORICAL AND RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE: Each party will provide freedom of access to places of religious and historical significance. In this regard, in accordance with the Washington Declaration, Israel respects the present special role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Muslim Holy shrines in Jerusalem. When negotiations on the permanent status will take place, Israel will give high priority to the Jordanian historic role in these shrines...), willl always make noise.

And who knows when the turmoil in Egypt will end?

The Islam world is engaged in Tewmple denial in any case, not matter what is done.

If fundamentalist Islamic forces are at work in Egypt and Jordan that is a long-time development, has always negated Israel's administration of the Temple Mount and will respond even more forcefully after Netanyahu's waiting period is done.

But more important, Netanyahu has to make clear that that bridge work is on the exterior of the Temple Mount and is to be done to save lives.  What religion could be against protecting people's safety?

Netanyahu's approach, based on a frightened attitude, is displaying weakness.

And, in the Arab Middle East. that is dangerous.

Why Has Al-Tayib Changed His Mind?

Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayib is a heavyweight Sunni Muslim religious scholar, theologian and decisor in matters of faith. He's at Cairo's Al-Azhar University, has been the object of a recent Benetton publicity campaign featuring a kiss with the Pope.

He:

Warns Jews over 'Judaizing' Jerusalem | Says Jerusalem was built by "Arab Jebusites."

As Ma'an reports:

The sheikh of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the top religious authority of Sunni Muslims, warned Israel Sunday not to continue the "Judaization" of Jerusalem – that is, not to continue settling Jews in its capital.

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayib held a news conference in which he declared that the Judaization of "Al Quds" (as Muslims know Jerusalem) and harming the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound are a red line and would lead to the annihilation of "the Zionist entity in Palestine" – i.e., Israel.

Historical facts clearly point to Jerusalem being an Arab city that was built by the "Arab Jebusites," he added.  He claimed that Zionists who lean on imperialist Western forces in Judaizing Jerusalem endanger their own future.

However, earlier this year, he had another opinion:

In an article published June 23, 2011 in the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram, its head, Al-Azhar Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayeb, expressed remarkably tolerant views towards non-Muslims, especially Christians and Jews. He wrote: "A Muslim cannot imagine all of mankind sharing a single creed or turning to a single religion - even if this religion is Islam. As long as this remains the case, the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims [must be] one of mutual recognition. The Islamic world has absorbed all the religions of the known world..."

In the article, Al-Tayeb distinguishes between the fundamentals of the faith on the one hand and religious laws (shari'a) on the other. He states that the three Abrahamic religions - Islam, Judaism, and Christianity - share the fundamentals of faith, ritual, and morality, and differ only in their specific shari'a laws...In saying this, he not only legitimizes Judaism and Christianity, but also implicitly sanctions the differences in shari'a between the Sunna and Shi'a, and among the various Sunni religious schools.

So, what has happened?

Has he changed his mind?

Was he writing falsely then?

If he changed his mind, why?

Is Islamic fundamentalism resurgent in Egypt and he is watching out for his own personal interests?

Is Ma'an faithfully reporting his words - or not?

It's 1930 All Over Again

There's a big storm on the horizon.

We've been suffering from Islamic Temple Mount Denial for years (see here, too) which I thought had come to an end.

Then there was Rachel's Tomb about which PM Netanyahu got upset.

And now, it's all coming to a head:

West Bank religious sites first for world heritage request

Significant religious sites throughout the West Bank, including the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem and Joseph's Tomb in Nablus, will be among the first to be pushed forward for world heritage status now Palestine has been granted membership of UNESCO.

A Palestinian Authority spokesman there were many sites and shrines in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip that until now had been unprotected because of a lack of recognition and funding.

''Now we will be able to protect them and make sure they are known around the world,'' he said. ''We believe that becoming a member of the UNESCO is an overdue right for a country that has such a significant amount of heritage sites.''

...The authority claims agreements such as the 1994 Paris Protocol severely restrict tourism and therefore economic development in the Palestinian territories.  Joseph's Tomb in Nablus - a site important to Christians, Jews and Muslims - has been at the centre of deep sectarian conflict. With UNESCO membership, the Palestinian Authority would now be responsible for ensuring the site was protected, the official said.

This reminds me of the dispute over to who the rights of the Western Wall back in 1930.

The Jewish case is contained in this memorandum. A review is here. And I have gone into this here where I write:

I mentioned the International Commission of Inquiry established by the British Mandatory authorities in 1930 which issued a report that resulted, in May 1931, in unjust restrictions on Jews by the Western Wall in addition to awarding to the Muslim Waqf the ownership of the Wall and the small courtyard which served as the worship site.

This is a matter of identity theft. See here for what appears to be an article translated from the Arabic to comprehend their thinking.

If this is the culture UNESCO will be promoting at the initiative of its new member, there will be two outcomes.

The first is a reframing of the Arab-Israel conflict in terms of religion and national ethos.

The second is the reorientation of Jewish concerns on our rights to Eretz-Yisrael.

It may be difficult at the outset but good will come out of it in the form of a strengthened Jewish national character.
