I have worked as a political aide to Members of Knesset and a Minister during 1981-1994, lectured at the Academy for National Studies 1977-1994, was director of Israel's Media Watch 1995-2000 and currently, I work at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem. I was a guest media columnist on media affairs for The Jerusalem Post, op-ed contributor to various journals and for six years had a weekly media show on Arutz 7 radio. Hi, I saw your comment on EoZ’s Twitter page that Nazis were socialists in name only. That’s not wholly accurate.
Many Nazis were socialists and socialists were critical in bringing Hitler to power. The German Workers Party (NSDAP, German Labor, or the Nazis) had high-profile socialists from the beginning [Strassers and Goebbels](https://ibb.co/mC2Gsq1), who was a fanatic socialist. But after the failed Beer Hall Putsch Hitler decided that gaining control legally by winning seats in the Reichstag was the preferred route. So while Hitler cultivated wealthy industrialists like Thyssen and Krupp, he [encouraged and financially supported the socialists](https://ibb.co/ZSh1LfS) in the party. Hitler wanted those socialists’ votes and they delivered. Eventually the Strassers were purged and Hitler charmed Goebbels into ditching the Strassers. The whole cult of personality thing.
And left-Wing socialists were in the party, [participated in pogroms](https://ibb.co/TMGK4rB), were antiZionist, anti capitalist, antisemitic and truly believed in their socialism. So it’s inaccurate to say Nazis weren’t socialists. Many were.

depite what you wrote, the Nazi party was not a socialist party even if it had that term in its name, even if former socialists were members. Real socialists left it. It never had a truly socialist character or political platform.
