'Jihad' is Jihad. It's Intersectional

Linda Sarsour, an organizer of the Women’s March, drew criticism over a speech she gave at the Islamic Society of North America convention over the weekend after some misunderstood her use of the word "jihad."

In her speech, Sarsour talked about protecting the Muslim community and the need for Muslims to defend themselves against the Trump administration, which many view as overtly hostile to Muslims and other minority groups.

Some interpreted her used of the “jihad,” which means “to struggle”, as a call for violence. The word has many uses in the Islamic faith, but has been used by terrorists such as ISIS and often is translated as “holy war.”

During her speech, Sarsour told a story about a man who asked the Muslim prophet “What is the best form of jihad or struggle?” The answer from the prophet, according to Sarsour was: “A word of truth in front of a tyrant ruler or leader, that is the best form of jihad.”

Well, be careful America.  It's an intersectional thing:

Rabin Says Arafat's 'Jihad' Remark Set Back Peace EffortBy CLYDE HABERMAN,Published: May 20, 1994

JERICHO, West Bank, May 19— Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin of Israel said today that Yasir Arafat, the Palestinian leader, had harmed the Middle East peace talks with a speech in which he seemed to call for a holy war to liberate Jerusalem for Muslims.

Mr. Rabin waved off Mr. Arafat's explanation that he was not calling for violence when he talked recently of a "jihad" for Jerusalem -- an Arabic word often interpreted as holy war -- but rather was speaking in a religious sense and urging a crusade for peace.

Through a spokesman, the Israeli leader said the Palestinian had provided "a far-fetched explanation of an unnecessary misstep, one that badly affects, and will badly affect in the future, the peace process with the Palestinians."

While there was no sign of a crisis in negotiations between Israel and Mr. Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization, Israeli officials were nonetheless rattled by the "jihad" dispute, for it reaffirmed their worst fears that the P.L.O. leader is not someone they can trust. And if that is the case, they acknowledge, they leave themselves vulnerable to opposition questions about why they are talking with him in the first place.

In case you forgot, it set back the peace process (as if there ever was one from Arafat's angle).

America, meet Yasir Arafat, er, Linda Sarsour.

She actively incites violence. She has direct ties to Hamas and belongs on a terrorist watch list.

Sarsour began her speech thanking her "favorite person in this room...Imam Siraj Wahhaj, who has been a mentor, motivator, and encourager of mine." She didn't mention that Wahhaj was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombings.

She called on Muslims to refuse to assimilate into America! "Our number one and top priority is to protect and defend our community. It is not to assimilate and to please any other people in authority" Sarsour said.

She shared the stage at this year's convention with a Holocaust denier, multiple imams who support the death penalty for homosexuals, the daughter of a convicted terrorist, and others who say Muslims should never cooperate with law enforcement. One speaker has, in the past, threatened fellow Muslims with physical violence for cooperating with police.

ISNA is the nation's largest Islamic advocacy group, one with deep ties to extremism and terrorism. Federal prosecutors have labeled ISNA as part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood network that was initially set up to raise money for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

Linda Sarsour alleged a 'right-wing Zionist' media conspiracy. "Every right-wing Zionist outlet in the country is engaged in coordinated attacks against me to discredit my leadership." Video has surfaced of the Women's March organizer Linda Sarsour blaming a "coordinated", "Zionist" plot to discredit her reputation. The speech, which had anti-Semitic overtones, was delivered at the same ISNA conference where she called for Muslims to commit to "jihad" against President Trump.

She explained to the crowd how she received blowback as a Women's March organizer, proclaiming how proud she was to lead the march as a supporter of BDS. She then alleged a coordinated right-wing smear campaign that seeks to damage her reputation.
"Every right-wing media outlet in the country. Every right-wing Zionist outlet in the country engaged in coordinated attacks against me to discredit my leadership".
She added that she is thankful to have a platform as a Women's March organizer and past keynote speaker at a City University of New York school, because it allows for her to continue to push for the boycott of Israel.

"There are people and Palestinians and solidarity activists who have been working on the issue of BDS for a long time". "Because I am privileged to have a platform, I have been able to have our country reckon with conversation about what does it mean for a Muslim or a Palestinian-American to be part of the resistance, and to be working with allies who are now taking up the cause of BDS."

Sarsour added that she refuses to condemn terrorism as a Muslim, because "terrorism should never be framed as a conversation that should be just had with Muslims in a country where white supremacists have killed more people since 9/11 than Muslims have." Wow. More lies that we can thank Obama for, as he was directly responsible for raising this terrorist sympathizer's profile in a huge way by not just having her at the White House on numerous occasions but also giving her a platform in his administration.

She later seemed to imply that U.S. foreign policy — not Muslim jihadis' — is responsible for terrorism.

"We have to get to the root of the problem when it comes to terrorism. The root of the problem doesn't come from within the Muslim community - it comes from a politicized foreign policy of war on our people".

She revealed that she has "people on the inside" of Qatar state-run Al Jazeera who "can help frame those stories" to portray her side in a positive light. "Our top priority...is to please Allah, and only Allah."
