A Special Guest at Tel Shiloh: Outgoing IDF Command Chief Ashkenazi

Reported:

Ashkenazi: There is no place like this in the world

Outgoing Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi visited the Binyamin region of the West Bank South Samaria Sunday as part of his farewell tour of the IDF Central Command.

He had lunch with settler local Jewish leaders and visited the biblical archeological site at Tel Shiloh. Ashkenazi said, "There is no place like this in the world, where we can walk in the paths of our ancestors. Those of us who wear a uniform are a protective wall for the nation's special chain which began in the days of our forefather Abraham."

"I leave today with a sense of great privilege that I was able to serve for 40 years," he said.

Great living in a great place.

Pictures via Arutz 7 taken by the Local Benyamin Council:

Avi (left) with Ashkenazi at the peak of the Tel (I've always suggested a transparent plexiglass wall there as it is very windy [see Avi holding down his kippah?] all year round) being spoken to by Tzofiah Dorot (not in picture)
