I have worked as a political aide to Members of Knesset and a Minister during 1981-1994, lectured at the Academy for National Studies 1977-1994, was director of Israel's Media Watch 1995-2000 and currently, I work at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem. I was a guest media columnist on media affairs for The Jerusalem Post, op-ed contributor to various journals and for six years had a weekly media show on Arutz 7 radio. Bikini (not even all the way on) on the Israeli side vs. hijabs and nijabs on the Palestinian. Hmmmmmm.
Unfortunately, not all Israeli women look like this and we do have the ldies from Meah Shearim. But at least they are living all in a liberal democracy.
So if your wife or your daughter would be on that cover you wouldn't mind?

The point I was making was a humorous one using the removal of clothes as a symbol of being stripped of territories, of Zionism, of values, of security.
I got your point. And to come back to it and to make an analogy, she actually got what she wanted for stripping, which is $$$ and your attention.
I just wanted to see how liberal you are especially when it comes to you and your family.
I am fairly liberal but that's more because I was born and educated in NY, I would guess, and, of course, my own personality. I think that if you exert proper control and limitations, you can be very religious yet still visit a museum and be amazed at a Renoir although going to a strip club would not be proper because of the general atmosphere which could degenerate into licentiousness.
So liberal Right? Interesting combination.
I'm just glad she doesn't have any tattoos.
In some circles parents arrange marriages for their daughters and progressives among us call that a "sale" of their daughters. Now the daughters sell themselves and we call it progress.
If you would strip yourself from some prejudgments, you'd realize that I am a very interesting person and that peace is made between peoples. I have met and debated Sari Nussiebeh, Ziad Abu-Zayaad and other Pals. So, at least dialogue is a possibility and not sniping away, with words or other projecticles.
My prejudgement araise as reactions to what i am reading on this blog.
I do believe that peace is made between peoples and i believe in the power of dialogue. Why won't Israel talk to Hamas then instead of bombing them?
How do I talk with someone who thinks I shouldn't exist as a people, shouldn't live where I have the most right to live?
I appreciate you being open-minded about these things (and only wish you were equally open-minded about suffering of your fellow human beings) but your comment "If my wife or daughter looked like that, well.." strikes me as inappropriate, even granted it was done in jest. I doubt your wife or daughters would like that. I think my wife wouldn't if I said anything like that. We both know that the image above is first and foremost about objectification of the female body. We can still derive pleasure from looking at it, but it is a guilty one.

Actually, first and foremost, the object you see is Bar Rafaeli making a lot of money. A lot.
How about you show it to your wife and see if she laughs. If she does, kudos to her for being uber-open-minded.
Most people, especially males, looking at this cover will not think about the money Bar Rafaeli made, believe me.
