'Move meant to strengthen Abbas'  [The head of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas said that the release of prisoners, especially those who were arrested before the signing of the Oslo
agreement, will enhance the chances of achieving peace.]

 

The committee's decision was informed by Shin Bet data and recommendations. According to a political source, several of the names were changed during the meeting. "The move was meant to strengthen Mahmoud Abbas," he added.

But it will weaken Israel - not only at the diplomatic negotiating table but in a moral sense - and strengthen the concept of Palestinianism that is predicated on terror as per the Covenenat which has never been fully and unequivocally withdrawn:

Article 9: Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine. This it is the overall strategy, not merely a tactical phase. The Palestinian Arab people assert their absolute determination and firm resolution to continue their armed struggle and to work for an armed popular revolution for the liberation of their country and their return to it . They also assert their right to normal life in Palestine and to exercise their right to self-determination and sovereignty over it.

Statement on the Release of Prisoners
The list includes 14 prisoners who will be transferred to Gaza and 12 from Judea and Samaria. Eight prisoners on the list were due to be released in the next three years and two in the next six months. The prisoner release will be carried out at least 48 hours after the list will have been published. It was emphasized in the aforesaid discussion that that if any of the released prisoners return to hostile activity against the State of Israel, they will be returned to continue serving their sentences.

No, the condition should be that the release process halts.  And that never ever again will the US pressure Israel to engage in this for of diplomacy.

Obama Apologizes to Israel for Demanding Prisoner Release

No, he didn't. 

You knew that.

What did happen was this:

U.S. law enforcement officials expressed outrage over the release from prison of Mexican drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero and vowed to continue efforts to bring to justice the man who ordered the killing of a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent.

Caro Quintero was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the 1985 kidnapping and killing of DEA agent Enrique Camarena but a Mexican federal court ordered his release this week saying he had been improperly tried in a federal court for state crimes.

The 60-year-old walked out of a prison in the western state of Jalisco early Friday after serving 28 years of his sentence.

The U.S. Department of Justice said it found the court’s decision “deeply troubling.”

“The Department of Justice, and especially the Drug Enforcement Administration, is extremely disappointed with this result,” it said in a statement.

The Association of Former Federal Narcotics Agents in the United States said it was “outraged” by Caro Quintero’s early release and it blamed corruption within Mexico’s justice system for his early release.

“The release of this violent butcher is but another example of how good faith efforts by the U.S. to work with the Mexican government can be frustrated by those powerful dark forces that work in the shadows of the Mexican‘justice’ system,” the organization said in a statement.

The DEA, meanwhile, said it “will vigorously continue its efforts to ensure Caro-Quintero faces charges in the United States for the crimes he committed.”

P.S.  Did someone mention Jonathan Pollard?

P.S.  Seems someone did.  Sort of.

Pollard’s fate was not raised in the formal part of the meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry, but Jewish leaders brought him up in informal discussions before and after the official discussion. The source declined to reveal which of the participants mentioned Pollard.

“People sincerely brought up the issue, but not in a way to make it uncomfortable for the secretary,” the source said.

Financial and/or Criminal Liability

Since it has been proven that released terrorists have not only encouraged others to engage in the fine Palestinian art of murdering Jews but that a percentage of those released themselves have reengaged in terror, how does one go about achieving punitive financial redress and how does one pursue a judicial suit of a criminal nature against the 13 ministers who decided to release them as well as against any and all government employees who too act so that these prisoners are released on the basis that a claim of "I was just following orders" cannot apply, if, God forbid, Jews are injured or worse?
