Bernard Avishai of Dartmouth College writes that "There Is a Zionism That Needs the Support of Progressives" (October 19). He uses the term "cultural Zionism" and writes of "Labor Zionist culturalists."

University professors should be exact when describing historical events, persons and movements. They were Socialists, mostly Marxists, and they created the Histadrut, a unique hegemonic trade union which Ze’ev Sternhell’s 1997 'The Founding Myths of Israel" described as an instrument of "national socialism."
