Israel announced Sunday it had approved hundreds more settlements [?!] to be built in the West Bank, a day after five members of a settlement family there were stabbed to death in their sleep. The ministerial committee responsible for settlements had decided to build several hundred units at Gush Etzion, Maale Adumim, Ariel and Kyriat Sefer, said a statement from Prime Miniter [sic] Benjamin Netanyahu's office.
So, now every apartment is a "settlement"?
Haaretz, even, gets it right:
Israel [sic] approves 500 new homes in West Bank settlements in response to Itamar attack
Ministerial committee on settlements with participation of Netanyahu and Barak approve further settlement building as response to the fatal stabbing in West Bank settlement in which family of five were slain.

Its one those ironies of Jewish history that Jewish deaths lead to critical progress living Jews seem unable to attain.
ReplyDeleteToday it took the murder of a family to force the Israeli government to do the right thing.
In this world, G-d has a way of evening out the scales - He sees to it those who sanctify Him bless the nation through their sacrifice.
The joy of more Jews living in their homeland is balanced by the sorrow of those who gave their lives to ensure it would never be rent from the Jewish people.
Let every one in Israel strive to be worthy of the martyrs to the Living G-d and to the country!
