Madonna At the Kotel

After a long time when I had not been at the Kotel for a Bar Mitzva, I attended one today at the invitation of Terry Davies and his wife, Susan Settenbrino for their son Ariel.

Since the weather was inclement, we went inside.

First, we have a dedication plaque:



Then, you enter the cavernous hall:

And since it is quite noisy, with perhaps 10 ceremonies going on, with the Torah leining (cantillation), singing and whatnot, I found out that the Bar Mitzva boys pass around "Madonnas". That's Ariel with one:

"Madonna" is the Hebrew slang term for portable/belt-hung voice amplifier
